Question for legal eagles.

Mayor Cruz is a native-born US citizen.

So, that means she can run for President, right?

2. Seems logical

But one never knows what the law actually says.

After all, they have no meaningful vote or representation.

3. McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone

and everyone said he was eligible.

Heck, Ted Cruz was born in Canada.

5. I'm not a lawyer.

There are four members of Congress who where born in Puerto Rico. But the rules that apply to the presidency are different. If one met all the other requirements then I'm sure Democrats would agree. Republicans would probably challenge it, though. They'd take it to the Supremes. And I think we all know how that would end.

7. I don't see why not either.

In a rational world.

12. The most lawyer-like answer to your question is

that anyone can "run" for President. The true question would be whether she could "be" President.

That said, I bet the Supreme Court would agree that she was born an American citizen and thus is qualified. I doubt it has ever been tested in court though, so who knows.
