It screened out all the screaming--it was at a baseball stadium in Cincinnati--and you could hear them sort of through the vibrations coming up from the concrete bleachers.

I think at least some of the girls who were photographed holding their heads in their hands might have been trying to hear the music, not clutching their skulls in a transport of teenage ecstasy.

Free concert at Bicentennial Park. Marley headlined an outdoor show with War, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Sha Na Na, The Outlaws and Jimmy Buffet.
Marley was god-like on stage.

I woke up with 'Stir It Up' in my head, felt like I had just seen it played live in a dream.

And he was god-like on stage. So I was right.

What a line-up! Holy Cow!

The Wailers had not yet hit the peak of fame (but were well and truly lived by fans including yours truly). I had OK seats for the show, but on entry saw I some seats in the second-row center that were unoccupied and I figured I'd fill them until someone showed up (and that never happened).

It was a mind-blowing show in a great venue that I enjoyed from the best seats imaginable. This was peak Bob Marley AFAIK.

The last time I saw the Wailers was at the Starlight Amphitheatre in Burbank in 1978. Peter Tosh (who was touring with the Stones at the time) had just played 4 shows (two nights early/late) at the tiny Starwood club in West Hollywood) all of which I attended, came out on stage and sang "Get Up Stand Up" with BMW. It was an amazing moment.

It was the first and last time to two had appeared on stage since they'd split. Pretty historic moment.

Both times in Paris. First time in 1978 I think. Was a complete, total blast. 90% black folks in the audience. A vibe you can't describe. The second time a couple of years later. Being stoned with weird stuff, I had an anxiety attack and had to leave early...
