Trump blames poor cell reception for delayed call to Mexican president

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he spoke to Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to send his condolences as the country recovers from a major earthquake, and blamed the delay in contacting him on poor cell reception there.

“Spoke to President of Mexico to give condolences on terrible earthquake,” Trump said on Twitter. “Unable to reach for 3 days b/c of his cell phone reception at site.”

The 8.1-magnitude earthquake off the southern coast of Mexico, near the state of Chiapas, hit on Sept. 7, and at least 90 people have since been confirmed dead.

5. Okay, let me just get this straight.

The Mexican capital is Mexico City.

Which means I'm assuming that President Pena-Nieto could be reached in Mexico City.

And I'm sure he could probably be reached via landline and not just via a cell phone.

And the earthquake struck near Arriaga, Mexico.

Which is over 500 miles from Mexico City.

Meaning that cellphone reception in Mexico City was unlikely affected by the earthquake over 500 miles away.

Which means Donald Trump is full of shit.

Which is usual.
