(14,961 posts)he really is doing a good job so far, he did a good job last year w/Matthew too.

(13,872 posts)Prelude to his senate run, then prez.... I must admit he is doing a yeoman's job. All over the state keeping people informed. Making sure there is gas and water. Pleading for people to evacuate. BTW his Spanish is horrible.. I figured if he can spend millions on buying the governorship, he could buy a good Spanish language coach...
Good job Rick, even though I would not vote for you..

(9,527 posts)If you put a horse show commissioner in charge for example. Rick Scott, not as stupid as George W. Bush. That's a great campaign slogan in my opinion.

(17,382 posts)...a Republican momentarily puts down the crazy talking points, and does his job of serving the people, and people rejoice.

(58,511 posts)People and infrastructure have been in place with decades of practice and improvement. I can't believe we've lowered the bar to the point where he gets praise for acknowledging Irma exists.

(40,366 posts)He's not stupid. It's remarkable when someone like him actually has to do something for the better good. And I'm sure he knows climate change is real.

(8,133 posts)3 hours needs to be brought to account. Sorry but I've lived in 4 cities in Florida and I've never seen so much of a mess. The one that has been messed up is the only one with a Republican governors, and Republican mayors and a Republican president. Clinton had the best FEMA director James Watts and he turned around FEMA.

(11,949 posts)If he fucks this up people die.
But he is going to challenge Senator Nelson and this will definitely help him which I hate.
But at the end of the day I am glad he is not fucking this up.
Unlike Trump, that SOB at least has the sense to listen to government officials who know what they are doing.

(14,565 posts)He was robotic in disaster situations in the early years. Florida has so many of them he naturally improved.
I give him some credit for it but mostly I despise the fact that so many Floridians now judge Scott primarily due to these situations, with no clue or care toward his overall caliber and priorities.
Unfortunately it's a perfect stepping stone stage for him, not completely unlike Bryan Norcross shaping his reputation via Andrew in 1992. Norcross wasn't political elevation but until that hurricane he was mostly an obscure second tier weatherman on the local CBS affiliate in Miami. He wasn't even very good day to day. But none of that ever mattered again based on conventional wisdom toward his Andrew performance.

(51,308 posts)My god, shut the hell up, and get on with the message.
He just kept repeating the same speech again and again.
And the story about the little old lady. Somehow, she was rescued at 3 feet, then it became 6 feet. He lost me on that one.
At least he took the stupid hat off lol.
He may have screwed the pooch on this one; panicking the whole state, as they rush from south to north, from east to west, then back again because of his dire pronouncements. All as the storm dances around...mocking him, or so it seems.
This is why folks never evacuate. They don't believe these fools.

(67,089 posts)with a hurricane like this.
I never left during storms when I lived in the Keys.
This one mighta scared me though. But I already know of friends who evacuated from the Keys up to Naples. They're up there freaking out now.
