Unless he has a previous history of racist behavior this really doesn't help lower tensions. It will just infuriate the cops who saw it as snark.

His statement was clearly sarcasm and a dumbass attempt at using humor to make lessen someone's anxiety but it was insensitive, tone deaf, and just stupid. There are far better ways to handle a person who is unreasonably nervous during a traffic stop.

If you can't do the basics without making asinine and racially inflammatory statements than it is not the job for you.

I'm curious why this is only coming out now when it happened last year.
