**** PLEASE HELP **** Wife and kids stuck low lying Houston area

Last edited Sun Aug 27, 2017, 03:42 PM - Edit history (3)

Loved ones are around half mile east of this highway and the water is car trunk high in those suburban streets

Guy on MSNBC says the water is almost up to roofs, they're sayin this went to bad storm to hell in a very short time !!

before

After

Is there a way to call authorities to get them out, this happened literally in hours !!!

They're going to neighbors house that is two story, should they just stay they if the water gets above roof hight?

Thx in advance for any help

EDIT: They're going to house with second story

EDIT: Number to coast guard is - 281-464-4851 (steady busy)

UPDATE : The police came by on boat, looks like they're trying to take care of that area

Shelter in place:

Go to roofs

Stay off streets

If you have to go to an attic, take an axe to cut your way out or make sure you have an exit out of the attic

Call 911 if you feel you are in a life-threatening situation

GOOD LUCK!

even inland it washed out the cemeteries and it was very bad...terrible mudslides. Water was flowing down the street at the two story level. We were visiting my Grandma and Grandpa. He tied us to the roof with rope and bed sheets. The roof held but even if it didn't better of not to fall off...we had a knife or scissors to cut the the ropes and sheets if needed....we survived...it was terrifying. 95 was close for quite a while after that I remember my parents were frantic but couldn't get to us...prayers for you and your family. Take sheets and/or ropes to the roof.

Do not go in the attic no matter what.

They'll get to them.

Give them the address of the 2 story house. Mass text (that address, number of people) to every emergency number you can find including reporting programs. CNN, even FOX would be worth trying.

Edit: Do you have access to numbers?

I think a lot of people have. It's tough not being able to do more. Perhaps you can get information from the Red Cross.

Hands can slip. Hands on a sheet generally won't. It can save their lives if they're going to a neighbor's house.

And don't go into an attic--ever--without a way to chop through the roof or a dormer you can open and crawl out of.
