WASHINGTON (AP) Mitt Romney's campaign adviser, Ed Gillespie, fired back at the Obama campaign Sunday, saying the issues raised this week show "this president will say or do anything to keep the highest office in the land even if it means demeaning the highest office in the land."
The Obama campaign is questioning whether Romney was at the helm of Bain & Co. when it sent jobs overseas, allegations that Gillespie tells CNN's "State of the Union" have been disproved by independent fact checkers and are "a lie."
On Thursday Obama's deputy campaign manager suggested Romney might be guilty of a felony if he misrepresented his position at Bain to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Gillespie says Romney responded to the allegations on Friday so people know "he's not a felon."
