Why aren't Democrats and the media calling out GOP hypocrisy over raising the debt ceiling?
This should be s textbook example of how when there is a Democratic president (especially an African American one), they scream about deficits and threaten to shut down the government. Now, McConnell can casually say there is ZERO chance it won't be raised and nobody says a word. It's just like how with a straight face she said Democrats better not "obstruct" anything. OMFG!!!!!!!!! Tjis makes me crazy!

1. Because Democrats don't want the US to default on its debt or shut down the govt
They want to push this thru first. Needs to go easy and quick.
After it is done there may be talk of Republican hypocrisy under Obama, I don't know. |

4. Agreed. Highlighting this hypocrisy point only rallies ignorant public sentiment against raising it.
The time to rally about the hypocrisy will be when we have a Democratic president again and the Republicans are suddenly against raising the debt ceiling.

2. Mass media are solidly Republican
so they won't do that.
I'm surprised people haven't figured that out. |

3. Their hypocrisy know no bounds...
Remember when the GOP stonewalled on raising the debt ceiling to the point that our credit rating was downgraded and the Obama administration was actually researching ways to raise the debt ceiling using constitutional grounds? Their motivation was solely about harming Obama, and I think that has become crystal clear.

6. The House can't raise the debt ceiling without Democratic votes
My understanding is that the Democrats are calculating just what kind of concessions they can wring out of Ryan's predicament. I hope they squeeze until he squeals.
