Well, that was weird! Google Chrome just gave me a malware warning for DU and not to open a post!

It was scary, the whole page was bright red!
So, I closed the tab and reopened DU 'Latest Threads' on another tab. No problems. Anybody else ever have this happen?

Could it also be a user adding malicious code to his/her posts? ecstatic Aug 2017 #6
Yup that could do it as well. Egnever Aug 2017 #7

With Du and some other legit sites. Weird. I just reload and it's fine. Don't know why it happens, though.

My first thought was well, DU has been hacked again! My heart skipped a beat!
DU, needing this site now more than ever!
Hopefully it's just some Chrome hiccup.

When I visited the same page incognito (not signed in, no cookies), I didn't get the warning. Not sure what's going on.

I would bet it is flagging malicious advertising. Many sites get adds delivered by less than stringent ad companies that often let ads packed with malware through. My bet is chrome detected one of those adds and blocked the site.

I sort of panicked and immediately closed the tab. Then held my breath to open up DU Latest Threads on a new tab.

Fails chromes reputation filtering. I get why chrome is doing it, it's just damn near impossible to go anywhere on the web that safely meets their criteria. So they're either going to scare the shit out of people and cause them to freak out about surfing the web, or people will just start ignoring all the warnings and end up getting malware.
