Phoenix officials worry rally could spark tensions

By John Wagner August 18 at 7:15 PM

BEDMINSTER, N.J. — President Trump is pressing forward with plans for a large-scale political rally in Phoenix next week, despite pleadings from the city’s mayor and other elected officials not to hold a polarizing event while feelings remain so raw over the hate-fueled violence in Charlottesville.

“I absolutely think it’s inappropriate to be holding a political rally a few days after an innocent woman was mowed down by a neo-Nazi,” said Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), whose district includes downtown Phoenix. “It’s throwing tinder onto an ongoing fire.”

His words echoed those of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton (D), who earlier this week made an extraordinary request for Trump to stay away out of fear that the president’s appearance would “enflame emotions” and draw violent agitators from outside the state’s borders.

Robbie Sherwood, a spokesman for the mayor, said Friday that Trump had not responded to his request and that the city’s police force was girding for what could be a long night in downtown Phoenix on Tuesday ...

One of the comments is that Trump is holding this rally to get back at McCain and Flake. That opinion makes sense to me. I wish it didn't.

I'm not suggesting anything, but not so long ago such things were done to people, too.

Doesn't anyone have the power to just say "no, you're not coming here"?

...that is to say, Putin/Trump. People aren't seeing the forest for the trees. These guys are both billionaires. All the people appointed to the cabinet are mega millionaires or billionaires and a number of them have ties to Russia (Tillerson, Wilbur Ross, Gary Cohn, Steve Mnuchin, and let's not forget Mike Flynn). Putin is suggested to be the wealthiest man in the world. Robert Mercer, another billionaire, is bank-rolling Bannon, a Nazi. What might that suggest about Mercer? Erik Prince, Devos's brother, wants to run a private war in Afghanistan for $10 billion dollars A YEAR! IMO, these people are all working in a coordinated effort to gain control of the world. They are making their move to consolidate power to one rule. They want to put us all under their control once and for all. Watch for heavy, militaristic-style police presence during the Trump "rally". I suspect he is going to display a show of force that subverts the majority (i.e. the "left&quot in a way we haven't seen since the 60's. Even if we stopped paying taxes, the people in power can afford to do whatever they want because they essentially have access to unlimited funds. The only way I see to stop them is to hit them in their pocketbooks somehow.
