Trump is a lousy businessman

For the past couple of years, we've been told over and over that Trump will be a great president because he's such a fantastic businessman with incredible negotiating skills. His history has shown just the opposite. I'm sorry, but anyone who doesn't see that is just stupid.

Over the nearly 7 months of his presidency-- and especially during these past few days-- we've seen what empty observations these are of Trump. First, the presidency requires an entirely different set of skills, talents, intelligence and intuition than those for a person in business. The primary function of any business is to turn a company's products and/or services into a financial profit. The presidency is exactly not that. Additionally, we've seen that he has only one negotiating tactic and that is to make outlandish threats that are empty of any real force. The proof of this is demonstrated by Senate Republicans' abandonment of Trump. They've demonstrated their independence. He's not a great businessman and he cannot negotiate effectively.

A successful businessman wants to maximize and grow his customer base. Smart businesspeople avoid controversies and conflicts because they diminish that base. Yet Trump has consistently shrunk his base of support. It's no surprise that real business leaders have left his councils. They see how toxic Trump is to their core businesses. They want people to buy their products and services and they rightly see Trump as a hindrance to those goals.

If more proof were needed that Trump sucks at business, consider how many failures he's had. Frankly, I don't know how you can fail in the casino business since the customers just give you their money! Observe that instead of trying to grow his base, he has consistently insulted anyone who questions him and his policies. While opinion polls have margins of error, collectively they have shown constant downward movement of support for Trump. Other than Russian oligarchs seeking to launder their illegally obtained money, who would want to buy an apartment in a building with the Trump name on it? Frankly, I'm amazed that anyone would want to belong to one of his clubs.

Trump will not change. His core base of hateful bigots will not change. I have no idea how this ends for our beautiful country but perhaps the silver lining of this chapter may be that by exposing the continuing racism polluting our society, we'll be able to eventually move our nation away from such horrible thinking and beliefs. At least I hope so.

For many of us in New York, we've seen Trump's phoniness and bigotry for decades. How so many Americans couldn't see him for who he is has been baffling.

(geez, I can't even remember all the other oligarchies) Cheeto Jesus was never supposed to be a good businessman.

He was merely a stooge with no morals who would gladly wash the cash those oligarchs stole from their citizens. It's really not that complicated.

You'll hear that he's successful and rich and that's why he'd make a great president.

They are blind, ignorant and probably racist.

I kicked all Chump supporters out of my life after the stolen election. Family, friends, neighbors, co-workers . . . don't care. Anyone who supported that piece of shit is out of my life.
