(16,672 posts)Did I miss something that Democrats are onboard with the Venezuela stuff?

(11,489 posts)Obama is 1000X smarter than Trump, but it's hard to find ANY politician in America that doesn't actively oppose Venezuela's democratically elected government.
I don't mean to imply that most Democratic elected officials want to invade Venezuela, but I would say most want the socialists gone and would happily replace them with a capitalism supporting dictator.

(16,672 posts)However, some of those 'socialists' down there give real socialists a bad name. That country is one stinking mess

(7,638 posts)Venezuela for a long time now. I am surprised at the current voting.

(54,330 posts)Their oil is vulnerable to ground and sea attack, their gold has been moved offshore, and their population is furious. Who, pray tell, would Trump attack in the first place, and to gain what? Whichever side he took, the other(s) would tear any occupying power to shreds. Trump of course doesn't even know where Venezuela is, but Tillerson does.
Tragic as it is, and it reminds me EXACTLY of what Obama said about Syria in 2012, I think Venezuela will deteriorate further before it is tired enough of suffering to get its collective head screwed back on straight.
