In 2017, Known As The Guy Walks Loudly But Carries A Trump Hand Size Little Stick, Senator John McCain Returned To Capitol Hill While Having A Terminal Brain Tumor To Vote To TAKE AWAY Healthcare For Millions Of Americans That Now Do Have It -- Voting Affirmatively For The McConnell/Cheeto Trump Repeal & Replace Option.
What Does This Say About Ted Kennedy In Comparison To John McCain? Kennedy Will Always Be A True American Hero and Patriot To Give To Others Something He Knew He Would Not Have For Much Longer. Healthcare.
McCain, Meanwhile Is a Self-Focused Con Artist Who Only Cares For Moments Of Attention In Front Of A Camera For However Many Days He Has Left, While He Boldly Sentences Others To Die Quickly, By Taking Away Their Healthcare.

They win with hate radio and above all...
They win by enlisting people's gateway to heaven (the god damned preachers) to sell their very un-Jesus-like message.
They win with propaganda that comes at us from every side, never lets up, and is never really countered.
When they go low ... our party's reps don't have it in them to fight back.

(7,142 posts)McCain has the same kind of brain cancer my mother had. I believe that my mother's cancer was farther along than Mccain's though. Mom was doing things that had us worried, like sending 2 or 3 Christmas cards to the same person. My mom was a saint, she was involved in every non profit, non-paying organization in our little borough.
Mom was operated on in Presbyterian (UPMC) hospital in Pittsburgh, had bleeding and was operated on again. The doctor said we would have 3 to 6 months of quality time left with her, he was wrong, the time was shorter, and it was not quality, it was not my mother. She was totally confused about everything and worst of all, became mean to her dedicated and loving husband.
Maybe McCain's cancer isn't as large or located in a bad place in his brain, but as his doctor said after he operated on him, it's going to come back, that's the same thing they told my mother.
I wish McCain well but I also wish McCain's family well in dealing with what is coming.

(7,006 posts)We're just fine with our definition of Cognitive Dissonance. In This Case, A Man (Senator) with a likely TERMINAL Brain Tumor is voting against keeping Tax-Payer Sponsored Healthcare for others who might or could in the future have a similar medical condition as his own -- while he continues to have Tax-Payer Paid Governmental Healthcare.
That is cognitive dissonance. Plain and simple.

(51,134 posts)They have plenty of rationalizations for what they are doing. The rich think they are entitled to good health care and that the lazy poor people need to get off their asses and get a good job if they want to have health care. Those who are blessed by God deserve the best, those who God does not bless are getting what sinners deserve, etc. Communism is a tool of the devil ..... I could go on at length.

McCain's actions are the definition Cognitive Dissonance. That's OUR belief and it's not changing today, tomorrow, next week or ever.
Have a great afternoon.

(46,179 posts)If you listened to what he had to say before he voted, you might have thought he would have voted no. That's more dissonance.
Ted Kennedy as a liberal lion also has it's share of dissonance. Maybe it's because I'm a teacher, and I know that TK helped usher in the modern educational reform movement, along with D George Miller. "Liberal" and "NCLB" offer quite a bit of cognitive dissonance.
