It would "devolve" into single payer which would mean a massive spending increase?

Of course initially there would be start up costs but after that it would be the cheapest way to go . There's a reason even conservative governments around the world prefer it such as Merkel in Germany

President Trump may miss the announcement entirely. Or, he'll just scurry back to the "no big thing" position he assumed the first time McConnell couldn't deliver the Senate.

7. The teabaggers were elected solely to "repeal Obamacare"
Mon Jul 17, 2017, 09:26 PM
Jul 2017

They were literally single-issue candidates and the bulk of them came in during that 2010 election (with a few like Cruz, coming in during the 2012 election). The pot-sweetening to buy off the moderates was eventually going to spook the crazy RW loons, and this latest iteration would have fared even worse in the House.

As long as at least some opposition is coming from misinformed people who want to change the good parts of the ACA rather than the parts that need tweaking, and as long as Big Money is still preventing the change that is needed, this battle isn't over.

If republicans want to replace Obamacare, I dare them to find a solution that insures everyone and really does do a better job of coverage at an affordable price. I'm sure they'd all be hailed as heroes if they came up with a better plan that actually could pass. But I won't hold my breath. It's antithetical to their nature to do good things for people, especially the ones who hold different values than they do. It's both amusing and horrifying to see them try.

You hit the nail on the head. I only disagree on your point that especially ones who hold different values. I don't think they give a rat's ass about what values someone holds. They're mean-spirited and don't believe in helping anyone.

They Think They Can Explain Away "Repeal and Replace". But, Riding with a So-Called POTUS at 35% approval rating and a #TrumpDeathCareBill at 50% Disapproval Rating is too much for these two. They have to save face with the "Repeal and Replace" BS.
