I'm sorry, but I don't see how this Russia stuff is a thing.

This is a great one to toss back at the Trumpologists. I can't take credit for it -- found as a reply to a FB post.

ever gave Russia a thought in their lives until The Donald brought them up. And as soon as they realised and Trump confirmed that Putin was an authoritarian leader like Trump would like to be, they became instant fans of Vlad.

55. THAT'S a helluva rewrite!

The MASSIVELY cool thing about this is the length.

You break that OP down by sentence, and you get this looooooooooooooonnnnnggg list of shit.

Just almost an embarrassingly long list of shit.

Heck, even if you don't stop to read every line, just the look of the very length of this list. You can't even get it onto a single screen. You have to scroll down. Just the overall visual is a slam-dunk.

To the trump-lovers, political AND civilian: "Aaaaannnnnd you're okay with this?"

I love how Chris Matthews seems to have taken it upon himself as kind of a quest - to push the meme: "what if this were Hillary? What if Chelsea had gone to that meeting with Russian government operatives, because she was looking for dirt on her mom's opponent, with her husband (Hillary's son-in-law) who's a principal in the Hillary Clinton White House?" As Matthews complained: Ask that 29 percent that the polls all characterize as solid-for-trump-no-matter-what, if they'd be okay "if the shoe were on the other political foot", as he put it. Chris Matthews seems to have taken a shine to this subject. "The Chelsea Clinton Test," I think is what he called it.

I'm a little bit amazed that Matthews would do that. But I'm freakin' THRILLED that he is! I think EVERY reporter or anchor should wonder aloud about that question. That specific messaging ought to start flowing out of the mouths of EVERYONE with more than half a brain.

He's on at a time when I cannot easily watch, so I had no idea how well the early evening crew was doing. I'm glad he throws that out there, even though Chelsea is actually qualified to work in government in some capacity.

9. To the formatting police;

A paragraph indicates the beginning of a new thought or idea, or the beginning of a quote in printed dialog. I think it's pretty clear what the original author was trying to do here. It's all one long continuous run-on of scandal and lies out of Trump. After which lie would you insert a break to indicate a new thought or idea?

par·a·graph
ˈperəˌɡraf/
noun
1. a distinct section of a piece of writing, usually dealing with a single theme and indicated by a new line, indentation, or numbering.

12. People aren't being "police." They're pointing out that it is visually too dense

and thus uncomfortable for the eye to follow.

Actually your post is the pedantic one, by insisting that a paragraph break can only be for a "new thought or idea." Typographers know that formatting is also about avoiding eyestrain. If the writer had broken up his long list by using paragraph breaks with an ellipsis at the end of each graf, that would have communicated the purpose of the list being one continuous idea.

16. Breaking up the text is even more important for online content.

People will be reading on various devices and sizes of screen, so shorter paragraphs help the reader to keep tabs on where they are in the text as they scroll through it. They also make it more digestible.

I didn't end up reading the text in the OP as it's an overwhelmingly dense block (and I read for a living, so it's nothing to do with attention span).

I am an incorrigible formatting-, punctuation-, grammar-, spelling-, and word-choice-snob. But since I know this about myself, and I also know that I am just as prone to mistakes as the next guy/girl, I try to leave stuff like this alone.

Having said that...this post was UNreadable. So thanks for saying what I wanted to.

BTW, FB soft-return on a mac is shift+return--an extremely helpful key combination.

36. Come ON.You can't take constructive advice? Policing?? It's about readability. It's about audience.

Doesn't matter if it's all one topic. Even writers who write a long-ass paragraph under a topic sentence break their paragraphs up.

The long continuous idea loses its power after the tenth "thing."

Dictionary definitions do nothing to prescribe writing style and readability. How narrow of you.

If you care that the rest be significant to readers, perhaps researched by readers new to political events, you might respect the advice muriel gave you.

Caring about content presentation is caring about the audience.

10. And the Caputo Gazprom+other stuff thing

Who is Michael Caputo and What Can He Tell Us?
The Russian connections keep piling up

by Martin Longman May 21, 2017 3:56 PM

At his LinkedIn page, Caputo lists himself as a “Senior Advisor” to the Trump campaign from April 2016 to June 2016. He also lists himself as President of The Florence Group from November 1994 to November 1999, an organization that he says “played a pivotal role in electing Boris Yeltsin to his second term as President of the Russian Federation.”

Back on October 23rd, 2012, before Caputo knew that he’d one day serve on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign or be called to testify about collusion with the Russians, he tweeted about visiting Lefortovo Prison during his time working “for” the Kremlin:

It appears that he worked “for” the Kremlin during the presidency of Boris Yeltsin and returned home to the United States around the time that Vladimir Putin took over. So, we need to keep that in mind. Yet, how many Americans have worked “for” the Kremlin and then gone on to be “senior advisors” to an American presidential candidate from one of our two major parties.......the New York Times reveals that Caputo worked for “Gazprom Media, a Russian conglomerate that supported President Vladimir V. Putin” in the early 2000’s.

Caputo’s LinkedIn page says that he worked at Allegiance Telecom as a vice-president from June 2001 to June 2003. It doesn’t list any other employment for him until he shows up as the publisher of PoliticsNY.net in January of 2013. He apparently spent all the intervening time as the president of his own public relations firm, aptly named Caputo Public Relations with clients like Sergio’s Restaurants, Princeton Strategic Communications, the Job Creators Network, Carl Paladino for Governor, and Bloc Lytvyn. What is Bloc Lytvyn, you ask? Let’s see. It must have something to do with this guy Volodymyr Lytvyn who received the Russian Order of Friendship Award back in 2011. Or, if you prefer, you can go here to see a picture of Lytvyn shaking hands with Vladimir Putin in 2002. There are Ukrainian politicians, and then there are Ukrainian politicians who win Russian friendship awards. Michael Caputo worked on behalf of the latter.

43. Thanks!

How often do you have to update such a list? Daily, hourly or minute to minute?

53. Heehee. All I wanted was a couple separate paragraphs, but your effort is AWESOME! Not that I cannot

digest and savor details, because I assuredly can, but because with a list such as yours, one sees readily the AMOUNT of corruption and treason.

56. Which is why it's so frustrating to hear the TV media continue with the devil's advocate,

2 sides to everything bullshit. This is why so many Americans got conned by Trump. Cable news is useless! Print media is doing an awesome job, of course.

60. But will this

help us pickup seats on 2018? Im not so sure. The deplorable base isn't bothered by it. There's been so many controversies that they literally tune everything out. And we need to flip back some of those seats in R districts.
