Why I don't buy the excuse that Trump is not familiar with government process,

especially if it's being used to dismiss all the evidence that he is obstructing justice.

I reject the conclusion that his attempt to influence Comey and other members of the intelligence agencies is just the mistake of a neophyte. Instead, what it tells me is that this kind of behavior is common for him in the private sector. Let that sink in. It means that people like Trump, are accustom to picking up the phone to influence decisions that will affect him.

It is the only conclusion that makes sense, because no reasonable person walks into the public sector thinking that it will be an easy gig. Unless...unless you have a person who has systematically benefited from the backdoor arrangements that are common in the local and state levels.

I know this from watching how our local government works. Wealthy or powerful individuals can get special treatment from the government when government leaders need their support. To get that special treatment all you have to do is own large swatches of land or be in a position to mobilize large groups of people. The government process will get fluid in order to curry the support they need.

In sum, I can see how someone who has benefited from this public-private partnership bullshit from the state and local level can walk into federal government and expect the same treatment. But, that's not a reason to give Trump a pass. That's a good reason to set the record straight and make him an example to others. It will also send a powerful message to all the crooked governance that we experience at the local and state level.

It's not that he is not familiar. It's that he doesn't care. LonePirate Jun 2017 #3

He is the President, if he doesn't understand how government works, he should nominate and listen to advisors who do. He has an obligation to have people around him who can actually help him, and to take them seriously. He has FAILED to do so.

He wants his directives, whims, opinions, words, etc. implemented immediately just like they would be in his businesses.

When Republicans say they want to run government like a business, they are merely expressing support for turning America into an autocracy.
