Earl put that up.. Study it carefully. We are doing better, much better. Please carry on..We will win..again.................. In 72, WE DID NOT GIVE UP..WE CARRIED ON..................

Results of 72...election: ....#Richard Nixon/Spiro Agnew (R) (inc.) - 47,168,710 (60.7%) and 520 electoral votes (49 states carried).......................................................................................................
##George McGovern/Sargent Shriver (D) - 29,173,222 (37.5%) and 17 electoral votes (1 state and D.C. carried)

I worked for George McGovern in 1972. Well we lost, and lost very bad. (see above numbers).. We lost to Tricky Dick and I worked the streets and rang doorbells and had the doors slammed in my face in 1972. So, the Democratic Party was broke and owed money. So, a nation wide fundraiser was held..I went to the phones and worked them. We were all pretty demoralized..losing to Tricky Dick was bad enough, but being close to broke..double sword....BUT WE DID NOT LOSE HOPE...WE CARRIED ON................
.....We raised a lot of money, and do you recall. ?..Tricy Dick was too tricky for his own good. He had to resign. I remember, cause in my storage I got a newspaper with he headline, "I am not a crook."....So.....there was an election in 1976..it happens often...and Ford, who was VP had become President of the United States..lost.......So.......As bad as things were in 72/73...do you know what happened?...The Democratic Party elected the next President, Jimmy Carter........now.....here is something you probably don't know...................

Carter started a movent that saved tens of thousands of lives...not a few hundred, but the results were incredible..Brock Adams, his transportation secretary, brilliantly proposed and set the rules..that in 1982 or 3, I think his action was in 77, all cars wouild be equiped with some kind of restraints which would be mandatory. It was decided with input from the auto industry that the restraints would be seatbelts. I recall the auto industry in the mid 70s was totally against any mandatory restraints..but with enough lead time..it became law....and in the 80s deaths on highways began to decline...Why? Deaths declined because of a number of required safety equipment on autos....
......... Jimmy Carter, the president after Tricky Dick, and Gerald Ford, had mandatory safety devises put on cars. (seatbelts).. Later, harnesses and airbags and other devises were mandated and required..Now...here is the payoff.............Jimmy Carter instituted programs that saved tens of thousands of lives................................
...........................................1979...deaths on highways...about 53,000...population 200,000,000 approx.
...........................................2015...deaths on highways...about 35,000...population 315,000,000 approx.

So....what is the point...when we were most discouraged, after 1972, and it looked bad...it turned out much better..WE STAYED CALM ... We raised money and won the next election...1976...Our guy, Jimmy Carter began programs ...the seat belt rules...and strengthening safety regulations on cars, that resulted in the reduction of deaths on highways in the tens of thousands....Not a few hundred...but the regulations required, (and we are for government regulations, not them)... SAVED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF LIVES....since 1983.......

further..........the requirement of those safety requirements on cars ...also prevented serious injuries of tens of thousands of people...Perhaps you know someone who was saved by the seat belts, harnesses or later on the required "air bags"...those regulations saved lives and prevented injuries, and lessoned some injuries that would have been life threatening............................
..........................................................................our guy,.. JIMMY CARTER STARTED IT..KEPT IT GOING...AND..........................because of his beginning of these improvements, ....saved more lives in the U.S over 30 years...than Bush Jr. Killed.......Yes, it is uneasy when things don't go well....after November 1972...it didn't look like we would ever elect anybody..look it up.. ...but....we did not give up...and our guy got in next, in 1976 started programs that saved ....tens of thousands of lives through his regulations that the auto industry did not want to implement...But because of lead time, and Carter's working with them....these were implemented.....and lives were saved, and many injuries were lessoned and prevented................EARL IS CORRECT.....KEEP CALM, AND CARRY ON.....WE WILL WIN....

......................................PROOF.............(Cause many will not believe this).............................
