GOP policies are so bad and so mean and so un American no election should be close or in favor of the GOP. Everything they do is destructive and evil. The country sinks and dies if all their policies come to pass. The secret health care bill in the Senate is a complete affront. It is really criminal.

How could any senator vote for a bill when they have NO idea what it says. Secret laws or legislation is the way of the old Soviet Union.

1. No. Money in politics and right wing media corrupt americans

The majority of Americans are fundamentally good.
Right now we have legalized corruption in politics (see recent Ezra Klein podcast).
And right wing media straight-up lies to us.

Those are the reasons for the close elections.

4. I'm finding that harder to believe

I've seen a really ugly side of many of my relatives and neighbors. People who I thought were good people still defend him. They accept corruption becasue "he's rich, the rules are different for him" (literally, I have been told this by at least ten people recently).

Usually the next line is some version of "he's going to bring in a godly era in our country where the persecution of Christians will finally end".

It really does solidify my belief that organized religion is more destructive than helpful in our society.

It's really substantially media-created. We are in a dangerous time for democracy.

creates the narrative for them that the minor annoyances they face in every day life are "persecution" but black men being murdered for no reason by cops (for example) is becasue they were "threatening".
