General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI had an interesting call this morning..
I was awakened at 9:30 am by a phone call from "CGI Group" At least that is what I thought the robo call said. It offered a trip to the Bahamas if I agreed to take a short survey.
Of course I couldn't believe this could be true but... the robo call stated after the survey to stay on the line and an operator would make the arrangements for the "Free trip to the Bahamas"
So ... I pushed #1 and proceeded.
"On a scale of 1 to 5 .. with 5 being the best... How do you feel the Democrats have handled the budget crisis in Washington?
I pushed 4.....
This same question repeated 4 more times and I responded the same each time... then the phone went dead...
LOL
Does anyone know who was behind this "survey" ... I just found it kinda odd.
Thanks

(48,121 posts)Is this survey for real? A free cruise?
Yeah I got a phone call today saying that if I took the survey then I would win a free cruise to the bahamas. Anyway it didn't ask for anything like credit card numbers or stuff like that. And it said to go to this website called survey claim http://www.surveyclaim.com/default.aspx
Is this legit? Anyone know. *sigh* am I gullible?

(11,304 posts)once they said free trip I knew it was nothing because in the end they want information and your money. I don't even wait for them to finish and I hang up. There is another one that calls about lowering your credit card rate. I got suckered into it. By the time I finished they charged $600 to my account. I called the company and they gave me the run around finally I called the credit card company and told them what happen and asked them not to process the charge. They sent me forms to fill out and they must of taken care of it because I never saw the charge again in dispute. Believe it or not I still get calls but I hang up.

Promises of a free Caribbean cruise for participation in a brief surveys.
A free Caribbean cruise -- and all you have to do is participate in a brief phone and online survey.
Sweet!
I received just such a call on my office line a few days ago and eagerly dove in. Who wouldn't want a two-day, two-night, all-inclusive cruise to the Bahamas?
First I had to respond to a series of automated questions. What's my gender? What's my age group? Do I speak Spanish?

(30,947 posts)As soon as I hear "free trip to the Bahamas," I hang up. It is a total scam. Anyway, I have already been on a cruise to the Bahamas twice. Nothing much to see there.

(9,933 posts)I get a call and it's not a recognizable number it goes to voicemail cause 99 per net chance it's a scam or someone try to sell you something. Who needs that?

(67,190 posts)My elderly mother answers every one because she is worried if she doesn't pick it the crook will think she is not home and come over to rob the place.
I have tried to get her to let the answering machine get all the calls she doesn't recognize but she will have none of it.

(81,085 posts)Sometimes thieves DO try that. If nobody answers, that's a clue you're probably not home, so come and help yourself!
The only problem for her then would be - DON'T GET SUCKERED IN on some of these sleazebag scams.

(18,186 posts)that she is home and screening calls ( or 'I'm probably home but really busy right now so leave a message" ) and that might end the worry?
Let some guy with a burly voice create the message.
My cousin who raises Great Danes had a message that said "We're not home - but the dogs are!" followed by some very loud and menacing barking.

(592 posts)Also.. I realized that it was a scam... I just wanted to get to a live agent to give her what I thought about them calling me in the morning when I should be sleeping. I have had this number for less than a 2 weeks and I figure only a few people that I have shared this number with would call.. I was wrong..it doesn't take long for junk calls to start. They should be against the law.
Peace
