CAN THE Googles, Facebooks of the world STOP block and protect us . . . from ROBOT programs ??

Whatever is said by Putin / Trump or their enablers . . . the catastrophe is that with technology run-a muck . . . propaganda, take down hate speech, and “alternate facts” are now greatly AMPLIFIED by ROBOT programs.

CAN THE Googles, Facebooks of the world STOP – block – identify and protect us . . . from ROBOT programs that are like megaphones. . . giving unfair advantage to spin artists, haters, and well funded organizations that want to influence our Freedom of legitimate discussion!

First Amendment or no First Amendment . . yelling fire in a theater should still be considered illegal!

Putin, Trump and their enablers have money and are blatantly funding a well orchestrated campaign to marshal ROBOT programs that spew millions of tweets and e-mails slanted to their side, on a hourly basis!!

Again let me askagain . . . can the likes of Google and Facebook counter this non-level playing field, and the technological assault on OUR FREEDOM OF (LEGITIMATE) human to human (ie: not Robot technology skewed) speech?

1. We have to talk face to face with friends and neighbors

Human contact is important, too.

Also, knocking on doors and making phone calls for politicians we believe in. We can't fight them on every front. But, there is a lot we can do.

2. Yes, they can. Just like your bank can question suspect transactions. But that cuts into their model

.

They want people to be aggitated and constantly click and drive up content.

It generates ad revenue, news rebuttals and critiques, ad content and makes people more addicted to their services.

3. Yes, they can. Freedom of speech ends at the door into...

a business or home. It's only our government ("Congress shall make no law..." restricting free speech, etc that's covered by the 1st Amendment.

Facebook, Google, Twitter, forums like DU, media, etc are all within their rights to kick anyone off their (non government owned) platform that they want to and do so regularly. It's "their pool, their rules."

4. Sure they can but probably won't, however

that doesn't stop some enterprising programmers from creating something that stands alone as a browser plugin/extension that analyzes a link and informs on the probability of it being a bot or fake news.

It would take some time for the hit rate to become reliable (kinda like Apple Mail, it trains itself based on your inbox whether incoming mail is spam--again, it's not 100% accurate but it does a decent job).
