Msnbc is a joke.

Psuedo liberals, morning conservative spin gone mad, weekend trash shows for the lowest of classes, pundits going on vacation constantly with cheesy stand ins.

Every time they throw a bone at progressives, the liberal blogosphere reacts like a starving dog ready to forgive all their many sins.

Friday's are the worst with Rachel Maddow, a loving hippie, telling her viewers it's off to jail with you to get you to watch their absolutely filthy jail show. What a sweetie, how much did they pay her to sell her soul?

3. They were a joke, but nobody laughed, now they are a tragedy.

I was glad when Martin went to 4:00 eastern, but they seemed to have slipped him some sedatives too.
If repugs are looking for a place to spout their talking points, during the daytime hours, msnbc will let them, with no interruption, or questions asked.
I don't give a shit about their prison shows, but it makes them look more like the second rate network they are becoming.....

And as to pseudo liberals, I'll take them over certifiable conservatives ANY day. Now I do have my standards and, in that regard, I've seen all I can stomach of Harold Ford, Jr. and Michael Steele, not to mention Mark Halperin! Gag me. I stopped watching the Morning Stooges when Bill Press and Stephanie Miller were picked up on CurrentTV. VERY entertaining and informing folk.

10. I admit that "Predator Raw" can be some evil clown laughs.

I was on a cruise last month, and the TV included MSNBC. One weekend I was watching two episodes of "Caught on Camera" and an episode of "Predator: Raw" (i think that is title), basically Chris Hansen commenting on old episodes of "To Catch a Predator" including "unseen tapes". It can be funny in a dark way to see grown men honestly and openly tell Hansen about falling for the undercover bait. There was one 60 y/o saying he did the online chats because he still needs his mother to control his computer usage. Then a 30 year old, employed college grad, who made me sad more than thrilled.

As for weekend news, CNN already provides plenty so does (yes I know) Fox News. But at least MSNBC has some good weekend morning shows by Chris Hayes and Melissa Harris Perry.

11. What do you actually expect to see on MSNBC?

One of my closest friends is a senior producer there and everybody works hard just staying on the air to offer some alternative to Foxnews. The station plays jail crap because (unlike Fox) they don't have the money for development or the audience to maintain a weekend of new shows.
During the elections they will put up more news programing and less non-news because the ratings will go up. Then a lot of the folks working on the new shows lose their job until the next big election year.
Fox pays their people high salaries and has great benefits but people leave and take jobs at MSNBC because they have scruples.
I don't know what you do for a living but you just slammed some of the hardest working and committed people I know.

I wish they would show re-runs of the evening talk shows instead, at least until midnight.

I am grateful that they produce the liberal-view shows that they do, though. I switch to Current when MSNBC has those Lockdown shows.

It's on Friday that the prison shows come up right after Rachel Maddow. They don't do Lawrence O'Donnell's show on Fridays. I've watched reruns of the shows many times after hours.

16. Ratigan quit a while back

I think he felt he could do better as an activist not constrained by establishment conformity. His replacement is a show that includes a Glen Beck style con called Cupp. I know Chris Hayes and Melissa Perry are some progress recently, so I won't write them off completely. Those are the only two shows I watch, as long as they last. The Nation's best writers do seem to have been co-opted by msnbc panels to the predictable corporate slant, while their ads for their magazine say otherwise.

She is far from the relatively rational conservative of her reputation. She's an airhead, and the presence of Toure and Krystal Steal really make that obvious. I predict she'll march into an office and pull an "either they go or I go" act.

I know when I worked in radio, the on-air folks took time off during the few times people aren't participating in ratings. They usually were around the holidays, because people aren't listening/watching all that much.

Those jail shows we hate, for some sick reason get decent ratings.
Come Friday, I'm ready to bid adieu to politics and watch something else.

Don't be dissing Rachel, she' hates the prison shows too.

It isn't perfect, but it's all we got. I'm just glad Comcast hasn't killed MSNBC.

They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand.

President Andrew Shepherd: Lewis, we've had presidents who were beloved, who couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference.

Slapping hippies around is its own category of sport (it has two levels; beginner and easy.)

There are logical reasons to do so. But their being "loving" isn't one of those reasons. Being politically useless is a reason; being nice people isn't a reason. Much like soccer, you've got to draw some lines and boundaries, else it's not a sport anymore; you're just kicking a ball around aimlessly.

And Rachel isn't even a hippy in the first damned place.

You will be better informed if you find another way to get your news.

I like the personalities fine, Sharpton, O'Donnell, Maddow, Shultz, etc. The are basically mainstream liberals.

But they are working in a crummy system that doesn't allow much great reporting or analysis.

Any one of them would create a better show with their own independent internet program.

Opinions may vary tho.

58. MSNBC

You have a former Republican who claimed he was out golfing at night as an alibi for the dead woman in his office who's body was whisked away and cremated. His cohost is the daughter of a major player in the Trilateral Commission. Then you have the wife of Alan Greenspan and then there's a guy who represents the stereotypical Washington Villager with a huge ego who supported Rudy Giuliani because "he made it so the phone booths don't smell like pee" and who said "America wants a little bit of Fascism" and who had an orgasm on the air when Bush did his crotch dance on the Lincoln. Weekends are a fashion show of the latest in prison tattoos.

Or, as Conservatives put it, "The Commie Network".

Of course this is from people who watch another network where the women look like they left the house and forgot to dress below the waist and that takes their cameras into strip clubs.

Whatever sucks about MSNBC, they've got the real deal in Maddow and Hayes. There's nothing "pseudo" about either of them, and some days they're the only points of light in the inane mass media soup that surrounds us.

American media and journalistic culture is a joke. MSNBC is one of the few embracing something better, if only for a few hours a day.
