111 new agencies

Just had a long running 'discussion' with some folks on FB about the Affordable Care Act. One guy was touting how there will be "111 new agencies" created under the PPACA. He was upping another gal's claim that 26 new agencies will be 'destroying our liberty' (same discussion).

All I come up with are Fox News and Free Republic when I google the '111' number. Anyone have any other information?

The Congressional Research Service makes NO number claim, in fact says the PPACA is silent on this issue.

Any body else have anything on this?

and agree, it's a long download and tells you "not much" except what the poster below mentions that the CRS says the number of agencies is 'unknowable' and the the PPACA does not spell out ANY new agencies to be created.

So any number they come up with to use fear of government bureaucracy against the PPACA is BS. I'm sure any number is too high for them because they automatically assume the agencies are designed to 'destroy their liberty' rather than actually help people afford health care.

it says the number is 'unknowable' (that was their word).

I bet the folks I was 'talking' to on FB might know someone who benefits from government bureaucracy, like say, oh, Medicare, or Social Security.

Several people in the discussion were touting their own self-purchased health insurance. Ok, well good for you. But I just can't see why, if you have insurance, you are so against this act. Does helping the poor grate on people that much? Helping the elderly? Children?

I guess I just don't get that.

and I should have re-read your post before posting. Of course you know the CRC used 'unknowable'; you used it in your post!

One person in the 'dialogue' said 26 new agencies 'stealing our liberties'. So I asked for a source. Then another person chimes in with "111 agencies". So I asked him for a source (IIRC, he was told once in a conversation to either drop the beer or drop FB...). He gets upset that he can't post a link, so tells me to 'google it'. I do, and it comes up with Fox News and Free Republic as the only sources..... Really?
