FYI: The right wing narrative regarding the Trump scandals.

So here are some points that the right hears regarding Trump's scandals.

---

A slow-motion coup d’etat is now taking place. Since November 9, 2016, forces within the U.S. government, media, and partisan opposition have aligned to overthrow the Electoral College winner, Donald Trump.

Factions within the United States intelligence community both inside and outside the White House have engaged in a campaign of selective leaks and plots to undermine the president of the United States and weave a media narrative of Russian influence.

There were no Russians involved with the DNC email leaks.
Seth Rich, a DNC employee, was the leaker and subsequently was murdered by Hillary and the left.
They wont look into Seth Rich's death because it destroys their fake Russian narrative.

We are heading into a 1984 world with the administrative state controlling everything we do.
Trump represents the final option to head off the transformation of the American republic into an administrative state where bureaucrats would wield an immutable regulatory dictatorship over the American citizenry.
[/blockquote ]
---

For those who buy into this, any evidence to the contrary can be dismissed as fake and of course the only honest mainstream news outlet is Fox who supports these theories.

I believe it's useful to be aware of what fantastical story the right weaves because it will be used to attempt to pollute the public's faith in the evidence that is piling up against Trump.

15. Bingo!

If you're not "critical thinking" then you're "fake thinking" (analogous to "fake news".

5. The scariest part is that James Comey, a man who led an assault on our democracy, is now being

treated as some kind of hero.

Trump will be taken down. But the GOP as a whole will continue to be rewarded for their crimes.

8. Let's say you're right. The Democrats win big in the 2018 midterms and then

they win a landslide victory in 2020.

That still leaves us with a ruthless GOP that will do anything to take back control, and is quite convinced they can get away with anything. They will control a partisan FBI. And worst of all, they will have a majority on the Supreme Court which helps them disenfranchise voters.

This is a sick movement we are up against. And they will not go down easily, even after Trump is disgraced and gone.

6. When dealing with such people, trap them into a logical contradiction & don't let them evade it.

Eventually over time, more and more will realize the RW media and the RepubliCon Party are conning them.

It takes time, but it begins by driving a wedge into THEIR belief system.

10. Ah, the corporate overlords playing divide and conquer. High stakes now.

They've duped about 25% of the US population with sophisticated propaganda ever since the Fairness Doctrine died in 1987. Now they are positioning those they have brainwashed for a bloody civil war that they will profit from.

If the forces of good win, then they will continue chipping away at democracy a pebble at a time.

If the forces of capitalist evil win, then they will dismantle the nation states and set up a global corporate federation.

Sigh.

I had hoped this wouldn't happen until I was happily dead.

A profound curse on capitalism. It REALLY sucks.

17. Well, that's a happy thought. Let's hope you're right, and I'm just a left-wing tin-foil hat guy,

out here on the fringes, saying stuff that comes more from inner fears and neuroses than reality.

It would be absolutely GREAT if it was that.

But it's not. Consider that since Obama's election in '08, when the NRA put out the 'word' that 'Obama's gonna take yur gunz,' sales of weapons have spiked in America. Who is buying them? Right wing militias. We now have a heavily armed, ignorant force of 'militias' that hates government with a passion. Remember the Tea Party guy with the sign that said, "Keep your government hands off my Social Security?" This is the level of ignorance we face because this group of people has in fact been propagandized by the corporatists, or capitalists, or economic royalty - whatever you want to call them - systematically since the Powell memo to the US Chamber of Commerce was issued in 1971, and that deterioration of our public culture accelerated when the Fairness Doctrine was allowed to die by Ronald Reagan in 1987. After this happened, we saw the dramatic build up of right-wing talk radio, syndicated shows and local ones, as well as Fox News.

The constant, blaring message of this right wing noise machine has been that government is bad, regulations are bad and the private sector is good. Fast forward from Reagan, who famously said, "Government isn't the solution, it's the problem!" to Grover Norquist, who says that we need to shrink government to the point where we can 'drown it in a bathtub.'

So, what is the motive of these corporate capitalists in so thoroughly changing the spirit of our nation from 'we help each other' to 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps.' Think about it. How many right-leaners or even independents say things like, "Well, if you have single payer healthcare, then you're giving a service away to someone who did not earn it!" or better yet, "If you pay the tuition of poor kids to college, it isn't fair because they didn't earn it and I had to pay for my kids."

Why this attitude? Because the neoliberal mantra is 'privatize, deregulate and gut social programs.'

The justification for this, of course, is that 'gummint' is BAD' and that the private sector can always do it better, faster and cheaper. This is why one of Trump's ideas is to develop a group of private for-profit prisons, or camps, that can hold detainees captured by ICE.

So you know, I'm really sorry to be right, here, but the fact is that divide and conquer has been a strategy used by the wealthy for centuries now - if they turn us against each other, then we won't notice that it is they who are picking our pockets.

The entire strategy behind 'trickle down,' and the 'privatize, deregulate and gut social programs' mantra is that they want to take our tax money that we pay in to our government, which by rights should be being used for programs that benefit us and make our lives better, and instead are routing that money, either through tax breaks or through government contracts to corporations. Basically, raping the treasury.

It is, after all, always all about money.

So, you know, if you want to try an refute me, go ahead. But don't simply say I'm tilting at windmills, because while true, those windmills are quite real, and someone (that would be US, the Democratic base) has to tilt at them.

11. It's like that scene from The Terminator

where the psychologist describes what he thinks is the paranoid state of John Conner.
"This is great stuff. I could make a career out of this guy! You see how clever his part is? How it doesn't require a shred of proof? Most paranoid delusions are intricate, but this is brilliant!"

13. I came across this article about how the Reich wing covered the Comey firing story

there are some great comparative charts:

The past week of Trump scandals for people reading mainstream news outlets has gone something like this: President Trump fired the FBI director who was investigating his campaign’s connection with Russia — and then the next day, Trump shared classified information with Russian officials.

But on conservative news outlets, the narrative was very different. It was about an FBI director whose firing was long overdue, and a liberal media desperate to take down Trump.

To pinpoint exactly how this played out for a reader visiting only conservative-leaning sites, we analyzed the front pages of Breitbart.com and FoxNews.com and compared them with NYTimes.com. We wrote a program to screenshot the front pages of these sites every three hours after the Comey firing using the Wayback Machine’s internet archives.
