(2,533 posts)These dances have a long history. These Arab peoples roots were nomadic Bedouin tribes. The traditions go back centuries. If you travel the middle east you can see these dances also done in Jordan , Syria, and other countries. They are a celabratory dance
generally done at weddings and special events and have nothing to do with warfare.
Are we the only people in the world really? So this is what we do? We just ridicule cultures for their arts, their dances & then sit and blab about why the world can't have peace?

(10,799 posts)I have many fond memories of that time in my life. Our neighbors who lived in the lot behind our house were actual Bedouins who herded goats. Big black tent and everything. Very nice people, would slaughter a goat on occasion and have us over and feed us. They were always friendly and generous with us. Times have changed in the middle east.
