Emily Heil: The Obamas Date Night Ends At Masseria With A Standing Ovation From Diners
Hey, isnt that President Barack and Michelle Obama, on what looked like a date-night dinner on Saturday at Italian hotspot Masseria? A fellow diner tells us that most of the patrons tried to be cool and not ogle at the former first couple, who were told left their menu in the chefs hands and dined on a lot of pasta, as well as a dry-aged steak with a red wine sauce, plus a bottle of vino.
The meal ended with something sweeter than dessert, though: When the Obamas stood to leave, a hush fell over the dining room before diners broke into applause and gave the couple a standing ovation. Chef Nicholas Steffanelli says the restaurant doesnt usually talk about its guests, but called the moment really special.

(16,162 posts)It means the Obama family is healthy, happy and safe.
As I watched him speak in Chicago in January, with tears in my eyes, I said to myself, if trump as president was the price we had to pay for the safety of the Obamas, as they finished eight years of dignified and graceful service..it's worth it. Because they deserve a long and happy life together.
Live long and prosper.

(1,865 posts)I recently replied to a "non-political" post..& explained I came from an abusive, dysfunctional family..but at 1 point was left in the CARE of a LOVING, "normal" Family. That time was too short.
To this day, I thank God for that Family..they showed me what is POSSIBLE. What LOVE can do.How goood comes, from being a goood person.
They showed me the difference between dysfunction & compassion.
& that glimpse, that EXPERIENCE, of real, normal, Family LIFE, allowed me to break the cycle, with my own child.
Thanks, God.
That is how I feel about Obama.
They showed the Best *We* can be..
Loving, strong, Compassionate, Honorable, KIND.
The awwwwwsome Lives WE can LIVE, if we keep our Hearts in the RIGHT PLACE.
Thanks, God.
I miss them so much. But THANKS, GOD.

(20,219 posts)I still wonder what a loving relationship is like. I'm pushin 60.
Always hoped and prayed I'd get to meet someone good and loving and mutual and all that good stuff, and find out someday what a non abusive, non dysfunctional relationship is like.
I'm still hoping, but.... maybe best to just be happy that I have some good decent friends.

(37,648 posts)OMG...not to be unkind, but I never realized her caboose was so large (a la Kim Kardashian), unless she's put on weight and that's where it goes. But she looks great...and young. How does she stay looking so young?
They are so in love. Ahhh. Wish that had happened to me (but I didn't make wise choices).

(37,648 posts)Times have changed. I'm older now. I don't get it. I think to myself "Wouldn't it be hard to get jeans that fit?" LOL. Well, it does make the waist look smaller. Anyway, she looks so young in that pic. They look so in love, even after being married all these years. That must be great.
I miss having honest, decent, smart people in the White House. Plus someone who smiles & has a great sense of humor and doesn't call people names. Say what you will, Obama could tell a good joke. I totally approved of Michelle's focus on health eating. A good choice for her First Lady project.

If I had been there I know I'd be crying my heart out! Miss them so...

(13,866 posts)Sat next to a woman on a 4 hour flight recently. I slept most of the time. When we landed she called her Mom and I could hear her side of the conversation.
First, she updated her schedule.
Then she said, "Well , what did Trump do today?"
Then they talked about about how far and how quickly the investigation would go. After she listened a bit she said emphatically, "Don't be delusional Mom, there's no way Obama can end up President again."
She noticed me smiling so I gave her a thumbs up.
Love this. Don't we all wish.
A tear and a smile.

(37,648 posts)In my family, my brother calls me almost every day to talk about what Trump did that day. There's always SOMETHING to discuss that he did or said. I must say that giving a top code secret to the Russians in a meeting that the America press was barred from pretty much topped the list.

(30,717 posts)He also calls when our mother does something insane. She seems to have the same disorder as trump.
Usually, when I answer the phone, I say, "What fresh assholery is there today?"
It is just a standard greeting, much like saying, "How are you?" Isn't that sad?
