we should be bombing north korea

with food and medicine.
the people are starving.
dictators can only rule struggling, miserable people.

am i hopelessly naive to think that if we give the peace corp a fraction of the defense budget, we would have a different world?

expect that those people who need it most would get it.

Right now NK gets this type of aid from China, and that is good, and I hope it gets to those who need it

in so many places, it only reinforces the corrupt power structure.
and not being invited in carries a whole, huge burden.

but i cant help thinking about food bombs. small packages, widely distributed. air dropped, and unexpected so that the military isnt there waiting to pick of the peasants.

However, we'd have a very different country if we chopped the Pentagon budget down to what other countries spend on defense and cede our empire gracefully. That five sided black hole is why we can't have nice things like single payer and good mass transit systems.

It wouldn't affect NK very much because the army would swoop in and grab all the food. While they're better fed than the peasantry, they've all got very tight belts, as the medal encrusted specimens looking at the parade with chubby Kim attest.

And remember, no matter how you bend over backward to be nice to some people, they will persist in being assholes.

it would have to be widely distributed in small enough packages to keep the military from sucking it up.

you are right, of course, about the pentagon. the world would be a better place if a giant sinkhole ate it.
but the launch of the military to set up field hospitals to fight ebola makes me wish we could take the military logistics and turn them to good ends.
swords into plowshares and all that.

They control all money and assets that go into the country.

There is no way for the US to get food or medical aid to the people of N Korea.
