Installing family members to powerful positions is a trait of tinpot dictators
Why in the world does Trump do it.?? How are Republicans tolerating such nonsense??
Jared K knows nothing about Government and neither does Ivanka. Is it that Donald Trump doesn't trust anyone else ..Or he is abusing his position to reward his family? If Obama did anything close to this along with the Russian scandal.. Republicans would have taken a flame thrower through the white house. We Democrats are too friggin docile for our nation's good.

1. JFK did it too, installed RFK as attorney general. I learned from here that
after JFK did that, there was a law passed about it. Seems like that law doesn't apply to Trump.

3. Eisenhower's son did as well.
"During his father's presidency, John Eisenhower served as Assistant Staff Secretary in the White House, on the Army's General Staff, and in the White House as assistant to General Andrew Goodpaster."
source wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Eisenhower But this is worse, both Ike Jr. and RFK were highly qualified individuals. |

9. assistant secretary vs senior advisor?
sounds like a big difference to me.
and his next post was apparently not working directly for the president or directly influencing the president. sounds like a big difference to me. and I'm assuming John Eisenhower did not have the same financial stake in policy decisions as kushy and trumpette |

2. Ivanka
must be the "keeper of the medications" They must think we do not recognize dementia when we see it, hear it. tRump is losing it, and the gop is covering for him just like they did with St. Ronnie. As long as someone has an R behind their name, they are A-O.K. in the gop ranks. Intelligence does not register with the gop.

He needs family around because he is getting paranoid and fearful of the future.
It seems Melania is no comfort to him. |

5. If he knows of any competent people
they are unwilling to have their names tainted by Trump. He has to choose people who are willing to be associated with him and the family wants the money. And yes, I am aware of how much Ivanka and Jared have....they must think they need more.

Jared and Ivanka are trying to protect the Trump brand, the only asset in their scam.

21. And they're both worth millions ( 700 million plus):
An amount that would stagger the wealthiest person most of us know in real life. Unlike the Roosevelts or Kennedys (one old family money, the other rich newcomers raised to realize the real power (back then )was with the average voter(and marrying into old time political power). Politics and governing were their lives' blood ---for better or worse. Governing and politics only became reality when the Trump kids helped decide"Hey,Dad, If you ran for president, it would be a gold mine just sitting there to be plundered! We can sweat the details if you (yeah,RIGHT) actually win. Something like that.

11. He doesn't know competent people.....
all he knows are conmen like Icahn and assorted mob guys and a few political stooges like Stone. The people in power positions now are those who Bannon and Co. TOLD him to choose. He didn't know Rex Tillerson AT ALL, and suddenly he's SOS. Same with the rest of this cast of misfits. Anyone with any cred at all would never affix themselves to this train wreck. And those who do, like Tillerson, are there for the billions of dollars, period.

20. "Trump doesn't trust anyone else ..Or he is abusing": I'd say "And" is the word...
...you're looking for, not "Or".
These things are not at all mutually exclusive. 1) Donnie only trusts what's under his control, and that's his family -- which is an extension of himself (especially Ivanna's kids, and Jared who Trump may see as a younger version of himself). Plus, it's family that knows how to handle his moods and idiosyncrasies, where they can steer him to a desired result and when they just have to roll with what he's doing. 2) Trump family business plan is to steer money into your pockets when the steering is good. Only suckers let good money slip away from them, and Trump sees everyone else as suckers, not him and his family. |
