http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking/20120630_Occupy_supporters_open_a_five-day_protest.html?ref=facebook.comSeveral dozen protesters affiliated with the Occupy movement convened from cities nationwide on Independence Mall Saturday, setting off tensions with park rangers on the first morning of a planned five-day national Occupy gathering.
Rangers disgruntled occupiers by telling them that they could not bring their tents, even unassembled ones, onto the lawn owned by the National Park Service.
Told that they could not set up a card table to distribute literature on the Market Street sidewalk without a permit, protesters held out a "people's permit" that they had drafted.

There are already reports on Twitter and FB about arrests and the park and police seeking to do what they always do...drag anything they don't understand (unity, happiness, love) into violence. Which are of course ultimate threats to the status quo.

(62,325 posts)world over the past months. Accomplishing things, things Congress couldn't or wouldn't get done, building a movement that will last, and grow and that doesn't mean constantly marching. And no, it's not 'several dozen'. It's millions world wide.
But if you are a supporter of the 1% I guess hope springs eternal. They sure are scared of this movement.
Btw, we've been hearing this since OWS began. It was supposed to be gone last September
Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your day

(62,325 posts)any public places as that aspect of the movement is so effective. I really give credit to those who keep trying.
I'm wondering if the next phase should involve taking this all to court and getting a ruling on what rights the people have to assemble. The Constitution doesn't limit the time of day, or the time does it?
