NYTimes/Haberman amplify Trump's lies

Why does the media just replay Trump's comments without proper context?
There is now ample evidence that when he speaks to the media, his goal is to mislead, not to give facts.

Maggie Haberman at the NYT got called by Trump after the AHCA failed. What did she do? Repeat Trump's words.
Maggie, read this:

Here's the Haberman tweet below. It should have said:
"TRUMP tries to blame Democrats for AHCA failure and he will try to blame further failure on them".

Instead she says:

1. In all fairness, real journalists are taught not to insert opinion in their reporting.

For her to have used the words "tries" or "try" would have been editorializing. Her instincts would not allow that and, if they did, her editor would redact those words. The mere statement that "Trump tells me ..." means it's a lie.

This is the problem with American journalism today -- the policy you quote is flawed.

Because when journalists follow a policy of not inserting ANY opinion, liars can take advantage of those journalists by saying ridiculous things that journalists are then "forced" to repeat.

That's why Trump controls the media.

The only solution is for journalists to report facts.
