Hell freezing over.

I've written several timees about my husband's coworkers. Today they were a regretting their Trump votes or were pretending they hadn't voted for him. The most hotheaded burst in at breaktime yelling that he would "never vote for another fucking Republican again. You don't fuck with my money!" That was before they started paying attention to Comey.

In the hospital waiting room following my hand therapy, I met two rows of silent people with their attention fixed on the hearing. These people all know each other and most of them are Republicans. Not a peep from any of them, and they couldn't sem to make eye contact with those of us they knew to be Democrats.

Both of us stifled the urge to tell all that we had told them so. Let the deceit of the right soak in.

1. I hope it sinks in.

They have four long years to think of how gullible they were. Not
just for voting for Trump but for voting rethuglican in the first place.

5. Let's save the righteous judgment for a little later

We can always say "We fucking told you so," to these knuckleheads. For now, let's just validate their feelings of being had, and explain why the Democrats offer (and have offered) something better. "You know how Obama was suppose to take your guns? Never happened, did it? You know how glad you were to have basic medical coverage, even with pre-existing conditions and without lifetime caps on benefits? That was the Affordable Care Act, brought to you by the Democrats."

Should they already know this? Of course. Do they already know this? Maybe, maybe not. Should we enlighten them? Why not? Better information leads to better decisions.

7. it's good to know

that some are waking up to the truth. i'm anxiously awaiting the day even one person here at work, or a family member, admits to me they made a huge mistake. i may die waiting for that day.

others will be drooling over him in person later today. or they are right now or whatever. good thing his job isn't keeping him too brusy to get out on the campaign trail...4 years too soon.

So it remains to be seen if they want to let me know they've discarded the Don. They might. Sadly, I'll have to be niiiiiiice.

It puts them in defensive mode and will delay acceptance of what a really horrible mistake they made.

12. Yeah, unfortunately, yes.

Any smirking or "is it wrong that I'm smiling?" references will just push them back into cold, locked-down denial. It'd be counter-productive, especially if they're just barely starting to see and grope around in the light. Their eyes will take some time getting used to the light, anyway, after being so deeply in the dark.

REMEMBER: It's mighty hard to admit you were wrong. Particularly when it means you may also have to admit you've been HAD. That's a tough realization to have to face. Especially when you're facing your own face in the mirror. So let them find their way. They might even remember you were a class act around them, which might help render them more favorably predisposed toward you. Zen, and maybe also the Law of Attraction, I think.

I'd want to crow, too. So I'd do it right here!

27. Absolutely right....

We don't have to hold them to the fire, they are doing it themselves. Give them a way out of the corner they pinned themselves into and they'll be our advocates for life. Try to make them bleed and they may fight reason just for spite.

That excludes the idiots that refuse to see their fault.

23. My sister's neighbor had a giant Trump banner in his front window after the election.

A month into the administration it was replaced with a lawn sign that was about a quarter of the size of the banner.

Last week I noticed the lawn sign was gone, and there was a little Trump bumper sticker on the front door.

I'm guessing next week that'll be replaced with a Trump lapel button on the mailbox.

32. Good, these types of doubts should be gently cultivated and encouraged

Getting them off the R train is the first step towards gently bringing them closer to our side. Insulting them or gloating will just make them defensive. Shaming them for being stupid can be satisfying but it will make them dig in their heels and they will feel better about throwing us into the camps later so it's not worth it.

They are starting to see that Trump's administration is not here for them. This doubt needs to be given sunlight, water, and nutrients to let it grow organically.

That was the starting point, followed by the slashing of workers' rights by Branstad. Trump's dropping of the Asian trade deal did not sit well with those who also farm sine it gutted markets for them.

The RW'ers I work with (I hear them over cubicle walls) re-affirm and rejoice in their Trump votes and are still talking about Hillary and all the other RW conspiracy nonsense going around. And this is in a white-collar environment with salaried folks who are supposed to be smart.
