Nunes: "Don't you think it's ridiculous to say Russians prefer Republicans over Democrats?"

Went back over the last 6 elections to ask Comey and Rogers if they had intel on Russians preferring the Republican candidate.

1. Nunes trying to confuse the issue.

This isn't about putin preferring republicans, it's about putin preferring trump.

4. Exactly

If Trump is shown to have colluded with Russians to steal the 2016 election, should we give him a pass as long as he didn't also collude with Russians to steal the previous seven elections?

Stupid question from Nunes.

14. Not stupid. Calculated to control the narrative. Has to give FAUX a way to spin it.

16. Actually, you're correct.

Good assessment, and I'm sure that the press will run with it once Fox makes it legitimate.

15. Exactly

Previous Republican candidates had no apparent ties, financial or otherwise, to Russia, though it seems like Republicans have been developing a certain fascination/admiration of Putin in recent years (probably because of his authoritarian rule of Russia that they no doubt dream of for here in the US- and sort of getting with Trump).

2. No. What's ridiculous is that it's true.

3. lol! that's exactly why this is such a scandal!

if republican had long had a policy of a warmer relationship with russia, the communication wouldn't have been nearly as controversial.

well, any electoral interference would still certainly have been a problem, but at least the communication itself would have had an innocent alternative explanation.

it's precisely because republicans have long loathed russia that it's highly suspicious. it's much harder for them to claim they weren't talking about electoral interference.

5. He is dumb.

He is intellectually inferior to Rep. Adam Schiff. It really shows when they are in the same room.

6. Nunes is trying to protect Republicans.

How can such a partisan, corrupt hack be Chairman?

7. I didn't understand the point of that--seems to me it just makes the preference for Trump all the

more exceptional, and therefore more worth investigating.

9. He then repeated the question and substituted the word "preposterous."

Nunes & Co doing their best to deflect and diffuse this one.

17. Maybe because, for all their many faults, Romney, McCain,

and the Bushes weren't hundreds of millions of dollars in debt to the Russians and didn't have kompromisat dossiers full of scandalous i formation about them, and thus easy for the Kremlin to jerk around on a whim.

and proved something he wasn't trying to say. that the Russians had no interest in elections until trump came along. interesting question if you ask me.
