5. I'm thinking

that the person depicted is no one less than Leon Russell

But I don't know the connection if in fact that is true

7. No, that's God. He has no wings, so he is neither angel nor dead human. nt

9. I am an atheist, too, but I teach literature, which requires a knowledge of cultural context.

But quite apart from that, it is a cartoon convention to give angel wings to dead humans when they get to heaven, and as you can see, Chuck has wings. The notion that angels have wings is pretty widely known in the Western world, even among atheists, and the image of God as an old white guy with white robes and a flowing beard is also pretty widely known in the Western world.

On Edit: the joke is that even God can't easily keep up with Chuck or match his genius on the guitar. Notice God's sweat. But since Chuck is so great, God is loving the chance to get lessons from Chuck. (See God's delighted grin, even as he sweats.)

18. What about Saint Peter?

I have the vague impression that I've seen cartoons set at the Pearly Gates in which St. Peter has the beard and the robes but no wings. My first impression looking at this toon was that, upon Berry's arrival in Heaven, St. Peter asked him for a guitar lesson. I can see your interpretation, though, especially given that there are no gates in sight.

Is there any particular meaning to the triangle over God's head?

19. Bering so much better on guitar than St. Peter wouldn't have the significance that teaching God

does, especially since the cartoon indicates that even God can't keep up with Chuck Berry.

No idea about the triangle, unless it is like the one with the eye on our currency.

12. An "H" chord is what they used to call a "B" chord in northern Europe.

17. Yeah, I liked that one too.

We all know that Trump would open the gates of hell and unleash demons on the earth, as long as there's something in it for him.
