Conservatives, for decades, have assaulted the commonwealth. They've degraded education, dismantled worker protections, stopped environmental protections, gutted programs for arts and humanities, degraded the infrastructure, and grifted trillions from the working and middle classes. They used mass media for a propaganda tool that's turned millions away from a government that's designed to "promote the general welfare."
All of it is financed by billionaires and multinational corporations. They are succeeding in manipulating tens of millions into submitting to an oligarchy through a handful of thinly veiled memes and platitudes.
Now, in 2017, we look to a photograph of the head of Germany. She's astounded at the level of incompetency that's impossible to miss in the US president. She is right to ask herself and others, "What has happened to the United States?"
There isn't one foreign leader, except for Putin, who shows any desire to work with Trumpy. And Putin has Trumpy wrapped around his finger by flashing MONEY at him. Trumpy is literally a crazy fool, and the US is equally crazy and foolish. We indulged in billionaire fantasies and submitted to being dumbed down and swallowed every culture war code and we allowed fascists to take over mass communications and THIS is what we get.
Does anyone wonder why Bernie Sanders still gets a 61+% favorable rating, why Planned Parenthood has a highly favorable national rating, why Trumpy has a 54% unfavorable rating, while the GOP owns the entire federal government and 32 state legislatures and has record low approval ratings, and yet the GOP is ecstatic over their imagined "mandate" to gut the commonwealth?
Our sickness as a nation shows when our leadership does NOT represent the desires of the population. It's still the same story, similar to the very reason for the Declaration of Independence: Taxation WITHOUT representation.
