This is great. Thank you Mr. President. Good luck in November. Where are the jobs?

God forbid the Court and process orchestrated this news for this particular time. People are hurting. People need health care. People need JOBS.

So, this announcement is bittersweet... to American people who once had jobs, paid for health insurance coverage, which they may not have been able to afford to actually USE ... and that's gone. Health issues don't go away when the job and insurance does.

Unemployment benefits are gone. COBRA is gone. Hope is gone. Cities are going bankrupt. The nation is waiting for the plug to be pulled on the debt held by other countries.

Too Little Too Late and Lesser of Evils aren't working. People are dying. The nation is dying.

This is seen by some as a great achievement for the administration and party and by others as a benefit to private insurers ... and a tax on poor people.

The discouragement is understandable!!

Congratulations. Can we now have a JOBS PROGRAM? How about a TAX ON ALL CORPORATIONS. Those who choose to employ American citizens on American shores will receive an exemption. The funds collected by government can go toward a NATIONAL JOBS PROGRAM that will provide infrastructure and community aid. How about GARDENS IN THE SCHOOLS that can EMPLOY AND FEED AND EDUCATE PEOPLE AND KEEP THEM HEALTHY.

Feeding corporate profits doesn't do that.

34. I hope Romney will return us to the good 'ol Bush days

{Sarcasm Alert} Look at the pathetic job growth under "Oblamer".

* Under "Obuhmuh" there has been only 27 straight months of private sector job growth.

* Only 2.5 million payroll jobs have been created under Obama since June 2009 (that's when the recession ended according to the NBER, and only 5 months since Obama took office) (thru May 2012 with April and May preliminary) . Bush created 1.1 million payroll jobs in his entire 8 year presidency

* Only 3.1 million private sector jobs were created under Obama since June 2009 (contrast that to 0.7 million private sector jobs lost during the Bush presidency)

As for Bush's record, again, of course, he was doing everything he could to reverse Jimmy Carter's ruinous policies, but them there "Demtards" in Congress were keeping him from doing it. I'm sure Romney will get that straightened out, after all he had the 47th best job creation record as governor of Massachusetts (proving that its possible to do worse, he wasn't 50th you know).

Oh, and the business community is paralyzed by uncertainty about what the next Kenyan socialist edict will befall them. When Bush left office and Obama took office, the S&P 500 was 850. As of noon ET 6/28/12, it is 1315, up a pathetic 55%, and it took over 3 years of "Obummer" policies to make even that small pathetic gain. (That used to be the criteria for a roaring secular bull market, but that was then, this is now, doncha know). Now its true, Bush inherited an S&P 500 of 1343, and left office with it at 850 -- a 37% decline. But that was not for lack of business and investor confidence with Bush, but rather the effects of Carter's Community Reinvestment Act.

A job fair this week had a line of hundreds of people waiting to get in all day. They didn't hear this great news.

There would be a lot more people in the job fair line if 4.3 million jobs had not been created in the last 27 months.

{#} Job Loss and Creation - Payroll Jobs

# Payroll Jobs: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001

and click on the "More Formatting Options" link in the upper right and check the "Original Data Value" and the "1-Month Net Change" checkboxes and click the "Retrieve Data" button halfway down the page on the left

Factoids:
# Under Obama there have been 27 straight months of private sector job growth, totaling 4.3 million jobs (thru May 2012 with April and May preliminary)
# The economy Bush handed to Obama was losing 760,000 jobs a month (the average of the last 3 months of the Bush presidency)
# 2.5 million payroll jobs have been created under Obama since June 2009 (that's when the recession ended according to the NBER (nber.org, the official arbiter of when the economic turning points occur), and only 5 months since Obama took office) (thru May 2012 with April and May preliminary) . Bush only created 1.1 million payroll jobs in his entire 8 year presidency
# 3.0 million private sector jobs were created under Obama since June 2009 (thru May 2012 with April and May preliminary) (contrast that to Bush destroying 0.7 million private sector jobs during his presidency)
# Bush's record: created 1.1 million payroll jobs - by creating 1.8 million government jobs and destroying 0.7 million private sector jobs. ( the actual numbers are, in thousands: 1,080, 1,753, 0,673 ). Yes, it is ironic that a supposed "small government conservative" ended up creating government jobs and destroying private sector jobs.
# The Clinton economy created 22.7 million payroll jobs of which 20.8 million were in the private sector

It's easy to try to blame everything on one man. It takes a thinking brain to remember that congress has been no help whatsoever in passing a decent jobs plan. All they want is Obama to fail, at the expense of the economy.

The employment situation is getting better, however, the president can not fix the disaster of 8 years of bush in just 4 years. Bush did more damage to the economy than any president has dreamed of in the past several decades.

I am incredibly impressed at the progress the president has made considering how much the republicans and their corporate friends are doing in order to sabotage him.

We have to regain the majority in Nov then we can do something substantial.

59. Lots of Job statistics with official sources

{#} Job Loss and Creation - Payroll Jobs

# Payroll Jobs: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001
# Monthly change of above: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001?output_view=net_1mth
# . . Hint: to see both of the above two together on the same page, go to http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001 and click on the "More Formatting Options" link in the upper right and check the "Original Data Value" and the "1-Month Net Change" checkboxes and click the "Retrieve Data" button halfway down the page on the left
# Private Sector Payroll Employment: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001
# Monthly change of above: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001?output_view=net_1mth
# . . Hint: to see both of the above two together on the same page, go to http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001
and click on the "More Formatting Options" link in the upper right and check the "Original Data Value" and the "1-Month Net Change" checkboxes and click the "Retrieve Data" button halfway down the page on the left

Factoids:
# Under Obama there have been 27 straight months of private sector job growth, totaling 4.3 million jobs (thru May 2012 with April and May preliminary)
# The economy Bush handed to Obama was losing 760,000 jobs a month (the average of the last 3 months of the Bush presidency)
# 2.5 million payroll jobs have been created under Obama since June 2009 (that's when the recession ended according to the NBER, and only 5 months since Obama took office) (thru May 2012 with April and May preliminary) .

{#} Job Loss and Creation - Unemployment Rate, Labor Force Participation Rate

# Unemployment Rate, from 1948 on: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000
# Labor Force Participation Rate from 1948 on: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS11300000
(on both of the above, you can change the "From" and "To" dates to whatever you want at the top center pulldown boxes)

# Unemployment rate, seas adjusted
(All values are January unemployment rates, specifically Jan 1989, Jan 1993, Jan 2001, Jan 2009), with the exception of the current unemployment rate under Obama. You don't want to show the Obama unemployment rate when arguing with a greed-banger).
[div style="display:inline; font-size:1.07em; font-family:monospace; white-space:pre;"] Bush I: 5.4% to 7.3%, Change= + 1.9%

[div style="display:inline; font-size:1.07em; font-family:monospace; white-space:pre;"] Clinton: 7.3% to 4.2%, Change= - 3.1%
[div style="display:inline; font-size:1.07em; font-family:monospace; white-space:pre;"] Bush II: 4.2% to 7.7%, Change= + 3.5%
[div style="display:inline; font-size:1.07em; font-family:monospace; white-space:pre;"] Obama: 7.7% to 8.2%, Change= + 0.5% (the last is the May unemployment rate)
[div style="display:inline; font-size:1.07em; font-family:monospace; white-space:pre;"] beg.6/09: 9.5% to 8.2%, Change= - 1.3% (beginning June 2009)
[div style="display:inline; font-size:1.07em; font-family:monospace; white-space:pre;"] (June 2009, just 5 months after Obama took office, is when the recession ended)

# Under Bush II, the unemployment rate rose by 3.5 pp (percentage points) while the Civilian Labor Force Participation rate fell 1.5 pp: from 67.2% to 65.7% (had the participation rate stayed the same, the unemployment rate would have risen even further). Contrast that to Clinton, where the unemployment rate dropped 3.1 pp while the Civilian Labor Force Participation rate rose by 1.0 pp. Secret information: Under Obama through May 2012 the unemployment rate rose 0.5 pp while the civilian labor force participation rate fell 1.9 pp, from 65.7% to 63.8%

{#} Job Loss and Creation - Unemployment Insurance Claims

# Unemployment insurance initial claims: http://workforcesecurity.doleta.gov/unemploy/claims.asp

# It peaked at 667,000 initial claims 3/28/09 (2 months after Obama took office) and since then it has shown a steady improvement.

# Myth: those who have exhausted their unemployment insurance benefits are not counted as unemployed. If they were counted, the official unemployment rate would be much higher (you often hear this claim from the RepubliCONS when a Democratic president is in the White House, and vice versa).

# Fact: the count of the unemployed and the unemployment rate is not a count of those receiving unemployment benefits, nor is unemployment benefit receiver status factored at all into any of the official unemployment rate statistics (U3, U4, U5, U6, etc.). Rather, the unemployment rate is based on a a survey of 60,000 households chosen at random. See: http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm or Google: "Labor Force Statistics from the Current Population Survey"

61. Why not ask that question of this slacker Republican Congress?

Teabagger Republicans in conjunction with the firmly entrenched bought and paid for old guard, like McConnell, have firmly obstructed any attempts to move legislation forward in that area. Hope is gone, my ass. Change Congress in November.

"Where's the jobs, Mr. President" is what I read on comments by right-wingers to news articles at places like news.yahoo.com so I get a little upset reading that **** here.

Thank you Mr. President. Good luck in November. Where are the jobs?

Too Little Too Late and Lesser of Evils aren't working.

Congratulations. Can we now have a JOBS PROGRAM?

What do you expect Obama to do, given that he is president, not a King? (By now you've been informed that the House is in Republican hands and the Senate is far short of a filibuster proof majority).

What the hell would a Mitt Romney presidency done to promote any of the progressive or populist issues you included in you post?

What the hell were you doing while Obama put forward a comprehensive jobs bill, which the House killed?

84. You do understand Pres Obama has been trying to get the Republican Congress to pass

a job's package for a long while now, don't you? They refuse to even consider a vote on a job's package. If the economy sucks, they believe they can win the White House back... They refuse to put the country above politics. Since Pres. Obama won in 2008, the Republicans have been doing everything in their power to stop the President from succeeding... In spite of their evil ways, the economy is sluggishly improving. Despite all the TeaBagging governors and state politicians laying off massive amounts of local and state workers because of budget shortfalls, the private sector seems to be improving in some areas.

With the health care initiative in place, states are going to get some extra help with medicaid funding and will have to hire people to implement the state's plans to comply with the ACA. If we can get a Democratic Congress and Senate again in 2012, we could get a jobs package passed and start building up our infrastructure, investing in technology (green especially), give the younger generation a chance of leaving college without huge sums of loans strapped to their backs, hopefully a progressive tax structure with the richest Americans paying more of their millions and billions back into the system to shore up the debts incurred by the Bush admin reign of terror, have a chance to pass another stimulus bill that would help the state governments fill in their budget shortfalls so that we don't have to lose more teachers, firemen, and police to lay offs. The last stimulus is done spending, and in order to get it passed, 1/2 of the stimulus ended up being tax deductions which isn't the best way to stimulate anything.

If you stick around long enough, you may learn a few things. Then you won't sound like a Fox News talking point.

it sounds too simple minded to worry thinking of paying a tax and being exempted for being able to afford buying insurance, to those who have no income and not a lot of hope left for the near future.

The nasty voices here all seem pretty comfortable. Thank you for your comment.
