snip
House Republicans have now basically admitted that they have no intention to replace Obamacare anytime soon:
[R]epublicans will be in no rush to pass any health care legislation besides a straight repeal measure after the Supreme Court rules. Theyre going to let legislation slowly wind its way through committees and get debated, dissected and amended. If the entire law or part of the law is upheld, the House GOP would vote for repeal, of course they already have.
This includes the most popular parts of the law, including measures that cover people with pre-existing conditions, allow young adults under 26 to stay on their parents insurance, and close the gap in Medicare drug coverage. At most, reports Politico, Republicans have promised a process they wont ram the law through:
[A]t this point, Republicans arent exactly feeling any urgency to do anything proactive if the Supreme Court knocks down any or all of the law. The reasoning behind the go-slow approach is to show a contrast with Democrats, whom they accused of writing a 2,000-page bill in Democratic leaders offices and jamming it through Congress, launching nationwide protests while ensuring the political demise of many House Democrats in the 2010 elections.

(3,596 posts)NOTHING will get done. I doubt Congress will do anything on anything. The pukes think if all hell breaks loose - student loans double, highway bill fails and thousands are laid off, government has no money to operate, etc. the fault will be laid at Obama's feet.
Me thinks they underestimate the power of the bully pulpit....

(11,304 posts)are they going to do when the dancing is finished over at Fox News and your halls at congress and senate about the repeal of health care? They both said they want to wait to see what the supreme court is going to do. I said sure republicans have a back door to the supreme court and you have known about this for awhile now. I asked them why don't they have anything prepared? Then I made a suggestion since they don't represent the people that they represent corporations. Time for them to wear Logos on their shirts.

(3,596 posts)ACA is struck down, then
Boner boy needs to introduce legislation in the House that contains all the things people like about ACA
- Children up to 26 remain on parent's policy
- Guaranteed issue (no pre-existing condition but ins. co. can still charge huge premiums)
- Exchanges
- Etc.
Pass it and dare Reid to bring it to a vote in the Senate.
