I now have a good reply to "But we didn't complain when YOUR guy won"

At least, it works with my dumbass relatives. Rather than try to list all the ways Obama was obstructed at every turn, I say, "Well of COURSE you didn't, why would you protest such a great choice by the American people? That would be like complaining when you win the lottery."

3. Good one!

I just say, "Then what was the Tea Party movement?" Protesting constantly. Disrupting townhalls, screaming "do you job." What was that? You were even given costumes and flags from the Republican organizers of that astro-turf group, thanks to Phil Gramm and Dick Armey, et. al. What was all of that?

10. The Tea Party?

That was funded by the Kock brothers and was no where near a grass roots movement. The astroturf bowel movement from the mouth breathers lemmings don't understand how this is organically occuring.

16. You're right, it wasnt a grassroots movement, but

they keep claiming it was. So lets use that against them.

25. It may not have been grass roots, but...

those people chose to carry all of those hateful, racist and / or dumb signs in defense of their "freedom".

Whenever I see one of these people online who claims they didn't protest, I post pictures of the tea party
protests. Bullshit. This is one of my favorites:

17. Yes, I left out the Kochs, and you missed my sarcasm.

My implication was that Grassroots groups don't show up with costumes, professional signs and expensive flags on day one. It was an astro-turf group. Look up Phil Gramm's and Dick Armey's involvement with this planned political attack on President Obama.

Gramm and Armey are two pus bags that have blighted our country for decades but nowadays stay behind the curtain. You probably know this already.

20. That's why they think think the protesters are getting paid

After all, since that's that how Republicans have to do it, that means means that's how everyone does it, right?
RIGHT???

I don't recall any quiet acceptance of President Obama. I don't know what people's definition of "complain" is, but republicans were totally obnoxious for eight years.

30. It just is ...

I mean ...

SERIOUSLY?

Part of why I ended up supporting him over Hillary was that he was such a calm and cool guy, and had no real history, I figured that they would be assholes, but maybe just a little less so with him than her.

And, as usual, very quickly I had to remind myself that the only way I am naive is when I give these fuckers even the first bit of credit.

31. People were far worse to Obama

than I ever thought possible. I understand the small percentage of hardcore ignorant racists, but we saw it coming from more mainstream people, who apparently formed opinions after watching Fox News, opinions that were totally absurd with no relationship to reality.

Anyone can Google the pics, burning effigies of Obama, signs with a hangmans noose telling Obama to "hang in there". Yeah...they were just gentle wittle snowflakes and Trump never tweeted to March on DC after the second Obama victory.

Nah.......

7. That's a lot more thought-out and elegant than my standard "That's fucking bullshit."

When I think of all the hateful, racist stuff I saw on Facebook, when I think of the people I wrote off, who used to be friends of mine. The complaints against Obama and his family were ugly and continuous for his eight years in office; they are ongoing to this day. Anybody who claims the contrary is stupid enough to be a trump supporter.

9. My conversation with relatives who voted for Trump never got that far.

The very few Trump voters I deal with are because I have to for business reasons. As soon as there is no longer a business reason they are gone quicker than Trump voting relatives.

13. So true

Well said. There were many reasons why folks voted for Trump. However I will never forgive those who voted 3rd party or not at all. They were warned by Bernie, Warren, Obama & HRC. Now our lives are truly screwed. Young folks stand to lose the most though. I really feel sorry for them.

Remember the Tea Party protests? Remember the obstruction? Remember the year long denial of the SCOTUS pick? Remember all the investigations into Benghazi, Hillary's emails, and the wasted government money spent attempting to repeal Obama care? Yeah there was plenty of complaining!

And the Dems had enough Senators to break a filibuster and the GOP leader vowed to obstruct everything on the day of the inauguration?

eta: And GOP Congressmen and Justices so respected the office that they heckled the SOTU?

27. That's a great talking-point, too, Croney!

Besides - THEIR new guy didn't do what I recall EVERY president who wins an election steps up and states one form or other of: "for those who didn't vote for me, I will work very hard to be their president, too". There has always, almost by unwritten tradition, been a verbal reach-out to the opposition. Not with this fucker.

This fucker couldn't whine enough about why he was somehow "cheated" out of the popular vote by all these millions of illegal votes being cast, and about which there is agreement on both sides of the aisle that there was NO SUCH THING. This fucker was a sore winner.

And I use the word "winner" advisedly, because to me, he DIDN'T win, and his so-called "presidency" is ILLEGITIMATE AS ALL HELL -
A) because he lost the popular vote - which indicates what kind of support was behind the actual winner. And
B) because we had a deliberate external manipulation by a hostile foreign power to intervene, undercut the voice of the people, and put a thumb on the scale to make sure trump "won."

32. I usually go with

it's not a question of "your" guy or "our" guy. It's a question of holding any president accountable both to the facts and to the consequences of their decisions.

It should bother you when "your" guy lies and it should bother you when he makes terrible, rash decisions without considering all the implications first.
