The REJECT Movement

In earlier posts - inspired by a post by IamFortunesFool - I was trying to come up with an appropriate and straightforward name for our resistance movement. After some thought, I came up with the REJECT Movement - Focused on --

Resistance
Equality
Justice
Environment
Community
Tolerance

Once again, I would be very interested in receiving feedback and insights from other DU members. Thanks in advance for your responses. - Dave

Good sources for the acronym, but being a "reject" won't be fun. jmg257 Feb 2017 #8

I thought it sounded great. But I don't think the media calling us rejects is going to be helpful in the long run. We don't need a name that has to be explained, in my opinion.

What part of the state you in Dave? You a fellow region rat?

When I created this acronym, I pictured people chanting "We REJECT Trump! - Resistance, Equality, Justice, Environment, Community, Tolerance! Reject! Reject! Reject!" It never occurred to me that the media might characterize us as rejects. I guess I'm kind of naive.

Like I said, at first glance I was like, "kick ass!" Very creative. I just thought about from a different direction.

Reason I asked about where you're at is Joe Donnelly is doing a town hall Wednesday up here in Lake county...

Thanks for your comments. I'm still inclined to go with REJECT. But I'm interested in hearing from other members, too . However, it's so late that I think this post will probably get lost and ignored. Might try again tomorrow.

But I'd rather see a name that at first glance represents being for something, rather than against.

People seemed to like the idea of Resistance. But that just seemed so generic to me (e.g., French Resistance during the Second World War), that I tried to find a similar concept with some specific "teeth" - issues we can all agree on, considering our primary problems are Trump and the Republican Congress. Came up with REJECT. But I get your point. Thanks for your thoughts!
