Summary executions: what's the difference between America doing it and Iran doing it?

Say we declare someone in Yemen to be a terrorist and we send a drone to kill them. We don't offer any evidence besides "our troops said the target was a threat to America".

Then Iran declares one of our generals in Afghanistan to be a terrorist and they send a drone to kill them. Iran offers no evidence besides "our troops said the target was a threat to Iran".

What excuse do we have to exonerate America and condemn Iran except "we're America and they're not"?

Having to choose between the religious oligarchy in Iran and the corporate oligarchy who funds elections in the United States and help shape international policy is a tough choice.

The corporatists do have a better propaganda machine though.

We drone people, what are they going to do? Iran drones one of our guys, we could nuke them into oblivion.

If you're asking about the morality of it, there is no difference.

Or what about Republican weapon trades for American hostages.

Or Reagan & his pals telling Iran hold them till the election & then we will pay you.

It is getting to the point where other than North Korea, the US is the worlds worst gangster,
killing anyone who gets in the way of corporate (oil) profits, or even anyone who critiques us.

I watch Soylent Green about once a month, and everytime I see it, the real world looks more
like it. Ya just gotta laff.

I am to the point where extinction of the human race looks like a better outcome for all life on
earth than anything I can foresee happening.

At any rate list the Iran contra crooks who got away with crime & grill the pols as to why we are
messing with Iran & justify why Reaganites sucking Kohemeni ballzz got away with
being in bed with "terror"?

To answer the original question, we have better media control & now propaganda ia allowed to be used in the US against us by our wonderful leaders. Thats the only difference.

Iran probably kills people who endanger Iran, we kill anyone we or Israel wants to.

That's the only difference I see.

"we" never do stuff like this, and when "we" do it is almost never discussed, except by "conspiracy theorists"

If Iran had worked to overthrow Eisenhower it would be taught in our children's school books.

Oh, and there was that downing of a passenger plane too, but that is another thing disappeared down the memory hole

"...Iran Air Flight 655 was a civilian jet airliner shot down by U.S. missiles on 3 July 1988 as it flew over the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the Iran–Iraq War. The aircraft, an Airbus A300B2-203 operated by Iran Air, was flying from Bandar Abbas, Iran to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. While flying in Iranian airspace over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf on its usual flight path, it was destroyed by the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes (CG-49). All 290 onboard including 66 children and 16 crew perished.[1] The incident is ranked ninth among the deadliest disasters in aviation history. It was the highest death toll of any aviation incident in the Indian Ocean and the highest death toll of any incident involving an Airbus A300 anywhere in the world[citation needed]. The Vincennes had entered Iranian territorial waters after one of its helicopters drew warning fire from Iranian speedboats operating within Iranian territorial limits..."

"We" have overthrown their democratically elected government, shot down one of their passenger airliners, have them encircled by us bases, yet they are a huge threat.

The hypocrisy is astounding

Who believe they are the royal master of the World.

And because they have usurped undue financial power, and media ownership, which allows them to operate above the law.

And because they have the power to choose the politicians that most Americans will vote into elective office.

Which means that these bought and paid for crony politicians, will use the facade of noble causes, and allow the American military to be used as the iron fist of criminal empire, against weak and defenseless countries that refuse the advances of our criminally owned and operated pretend democracy.

And because most clueless Americans are misled, and blinded by jingoistic idealism… “Might makes right.”

The Drone killings are incredibly problematic. Obama has been a huge disappointment in this area - he has continued the Bush policies and in some cases accelerated them.

I can believe there might be an occasion where the use of a drone to kill an enemy combatant is the right thing to do; but the scale at which he is doing it and the collateral damage suggest that we are being too free with this particular tactic. And the lack of oversight suggests that we won't ever really know.

We can send the full force of our military to their countries, while they can't do the same to us. We can bomb whole cities in Shock and Awe for days on end. They can't do anything anywhere near to that to one of our cities.

Other than that I don't see any difference.

Do you want Romney to win? Don't you realize what will happen to the Supreme Court? You're spewing RW talking points... and all those other things people say when they don't want to address a valid argument.

I don't see how there's a difference at all.

Of course, the barbarian savages claim to have God on their side too, except they call God something else and claim to be civilized, but they still kill people...while we don't, because that would be uncivilized...or, we really don't mean to kill them...a few bad apples...we investigate...we're sorry afterwards...

Oh, shit. Just take our benevolent leaders words for it and shut up.
