(4,483 posts)Said there was only one other customer at Schwab, a man, who said "That's a great hat--I was at the march." My husband asked him if he had a hat, and he said yes. I'm hoping that that guy will be inspired to wear his hat, too.
The woman employee my husband dealt with said "I love your hat," which might be an expression of support or might be an expression of personal discomfort caused by seeing an old man in what might be a child's hat.

(81,220 posts)I can't figure out imgur.com anymore, since they changed it.
I have some great photos from the LA March earlier this month. The signs alone made it worthwhile, but being part of that staggeringly large crowd was even better. (Biggest in the country/world! 750-thousand people, and ZERO arrests!)

(205,202 posts)And I'm not clever about these things at all! All you need to do is sign up for a free account on Photobucket. Then you can post any pic you have on your computer. Just upload your pic to Photobucket and post the Direct link. I always preview my post to make sure it turned out alright. Also, you now can edit any post you make here indefinitely if you need to make a change. Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing it, too!

(20,219 posts)I only know about Photobucket dot com. They make it pretty simple to upload your pics then use the web address you end up with to post on sites that require a web address.

(448 posts)Can we please get away from the pussy hats? It won't help us moving forward. If we all keep wearing pink hats and shirts in public, it will sink us. There are bigger issues at play.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)and it seems so far to have been pretty effective. Do you not like pink? Is it too "feminine" for you? Are you offended by pussies?

(448 posts)Then I'm with you, for awhile. But on a broader level, this resistance is not about any one identity. No...
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)You can have yer fun with yer silly pink hats but don't go gettin' no ideas that yer female stuff is any kind o' bigger issue.
rumdude
(448 posts)order. Wear those hats.

(115,674 posts)We wear them in solidarity with other women and all people who value women's issues, WHICH INCLUDE health care, racial justice, the economy, the environment and all other progressive issues.
rumdude
(448 posts)Med care is tied into that issue big time.

(115,674 posts)Yer fun's over and there's dirty dishes in the sink. Git busy.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)but the serious issues have to be mansplained to us because we're just women wearing dumb pink hats.
rumdude
(448 posts)But I would rather it not be THE SYMBOL of resistance to the shit gibbon. That's my opinion.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)I'll use it along with my pussy hat.

(32,967 posts)this is the second time I have seen you complaining about those hats .move on. you don't want one move on rumdude.

(65,328 posts)thing that keeps those who would resist and oppose tyranny from speaking out and stepping up is the fear that they are vastly outnumbered and that they would be left hanging there, alone, despised, vulnerable, and unsupported. The ubiquity of pink hats reassures the timid that they are not alone, that their opinions are not fringe. It also reinforces the energy and commitment of the group, because we are social creatures, and most people need to feel they are part of a larger group.
That is why sports fans wear team colors. Politics in this country are more like sports than like anything else. Tribalism rules, and people want "their team" to win, regardless of whether their team is worthy of success.
Wearing the "team colors" is an important factor in expanding the team's popularity and energizing its supporters.

(448 posts)were all those beautiful, handmade signs. Each individual, representitive of one soul. That's creativity. That's life. And what do they have? Unoriginal MAGA (maggot) hats made prolly in China.
cyclonefence
(4,483 posts)Go for it, my friend. The advantage of the hats as symbols is that they are already established as markers of women's rights. And nobody afaik has asked you to wear one.
It's sort of like abortion. If you don't want to have one, don't.

(6,926 posts)He's so full of himself now that I've read him all your responses to his photo. There'll be no living with him if this keeps up.
If I can screw up my courage I'm going to call my local NPR talk show and suggest to a wider audience that we all wear our pussyhats at all times and in all places.
BTW the old man wore his to the gym this morning--no responses at all. It was 5:30, so maybe nobody actually saw the hat.
