GOP-led Congress starting to worry about its role in the Trump era

Itís what congressional Republicans had long dreamed about: a majority in both chambers to advance conservative policies and a president from the same party to sign them into law.

But the Trump White House isnít turning out exactly the way they envisioned.

The GOP establishment is experiencing whiplash after a week of President Trump bulldozing through the norms of policy and protocol ó dashing off executive orders without warning, escalating a diplomatic crisis with the countryís closest southern neighbor, triggering global confusion with a new refugee policy and generally hijacking party leadersí agenda and replacing it with his own.

Rather than the hoped-for collaborative new relationship between the White House and Congress, GOP officials complain that Trump is brushing aside their advice, failing to fully engage on drafting tough legislative packages like tax reform and Obamacare, and bypassing Congress by relying on executive actions, something they frequently complained about under President Obama.

2. Wait until 45 is given the idea to somehow make the legislative branch obsolete

Then they'll be really shocked.

The irony of it all, is that even if they work to pass legislation, it could very well get vetoed if President Bannon doesn't like it.

If they can't see the forest for the trees (they created this monster they can't control), they may soon (if not already) find themselves irrelevant.

12. They have no role. Haven't they figured that out yet?

-45 might ask them to provide cover for him on something, but that's it.

10. They need him a lot more than he needs them.

One word from him and his supporters will turn against the GOP Congress in a nanosecond. They do not have anywhere near the same influence with voters over him.

14. It's so rich

watching them seemingly get bullied by Trump. Not great for the country but Trump is the end result/ultimate personification of everything that Newt Gingrich inspired and started within the Republican Party in 1993-1994 finally coming home to roost.
