Trump visa ban applied to those with dual nationalities

As if the late Friday executive action by President Donald Trump hasnít already caused massive problems with green card holders and visitors to the United States, the State Department is in the process of issuing an advisory saying the visa ban will also be applied to those who claim nationality in two countries.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the State Department is set to extend Fridayís immigration and travel lockdown to other visitors coming and going from the U.S.

According to the statement, the 90-day ban imposed by the presidentís executive action extends beyond citizens of Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Libya and Yemen.

2. Trump cannot keep people who have US citizenship from

entering the country. He simply cannot. If someone holds dual citizenship and one of those is US citizenship, no President can deny them their rights as a citizen without due process, and an EO is not due process.

Citizens of the United States always have the right to return to the United States. Period.

Note of correction: I see that this applies only to people having dual citizenship that does not include US citizenship. That, the President can do.

3. Legally, you're right.

But what do you do about a president who doesn't respect the law? He's demonstrated beyond any doubt that he sees himself as a dictator whose word is the law of the land.

How do we stop this?

4. It turns out that they're not actually barring people who

have dual citizenship where one is in the US. They're talking about dual citizenship where one of the two countries is one of the barred countries, but the other is not. So, for example, someone with dual citizenship in, say, Syria and Germany, could be barred.

If you're showing your US passport, though, you're not going to get barred. That would be unconstitutional.

5. Thank you.

I mis-read, apparently.

And I have come to expect the worst from this regime, so nothing would surprise me.
