I Guess I Am A Communist But I Am Proud Of It

Because I believe in economic and social justice, a Second Economic Bill Of Rights as well as Equal Rights For Women, & Marriage Equality, I am a communist. The GOP says so. I am guilty.

I believe in an economic bill of rights where a person has a right to the following. It should be the law of the land.

1. A right to a job.
2. A right to a decent wage and a decent living (living wage).
3. A right decent home.
4. A right to adequate medical care.
5. A right to economic protection during sickness, accident, old age or unemployment.
6. A right to a good education (public).
7. A right to pursue a business without fear of intimidation or unfair competition.

The GOP does not believe in any of these things. They believe in starving women and children, putting women in their place, controlled speech. Rape, pillage and plunder of workers is ok for employers. The believe that men control women's bodies.
Etc. They are against anything that benefits anyone but the top 1%. And they believe in theocracy.

Everyone else is a communist. I plead guilty. Power to the workers who create the wealth. Death to the GOP.

The GOP labels just about everything it does not believe in as Communistic. They believe in economic eugenics. If you are strong enough to rape anyone you want to you can do what you want with impunity. If you are NOT strong enough you should just perish.

Those are just snarl words to attack the idea of public goods--which they of course want for themselves but for nobody else. Never deny--even when it's true. Just go after them for being whiny brats who want public goods without paying for them.

I can usually get them to shut up by saying that I love my communist fire department. All urban fire departments are Marxist. "From each according to his ability"--the more your property is worth, the higher the property tax you pay. "To each according to his needs"--they don't send a truck out unless you have a fire or other emergency.

means of production.

'Everyone else' IS NOT a Communist. If they were, America would be a hell of a lot better place for 'everyone else' to live. 'Everyone else' IS working class but, right now, they are more a class 'in itself' and less a class 'for itself' (to borrow Lenin's distinction).

ETA: Maybe I missed some sarcasm in your OP. If so, apologies in advance.

The people of the Soviet Union and China did not have:

In practice, communism is a system where the banks own everything. Karl Marx's ideas were promoted by bankers. Corrupt and sucking all the GDP to the top -- we are close but we aren't communist yet.

in that they were assigned one and were forbidden to refuse it, and in general, the Communist countries were pretty good on providing universal education, at least at the primary and secondary level, although getting into a university was much more difficult.

The difference comes from whom they benefit and and whom they involve.

A greedy subset of the rich unionize / communalize creating and using think-tanks and their crossover corporate boards of directors in ways to effect information control and control of so-called elected officials and which elected officials manage to become officials.

They accept the resulting rich-socialized tax rates and power positions.

What they don't want is for unionization / socialization / communization to apply to all people, instead of just their socio-economic peers.

The bigger problem is that we are the same. We don't want it to apply to all people either, we just want it to apply to fellow Americans.

I put you in charge today. Make it work. Oh yeah, and make those who don't want to do anything and can work, work also. I mean, you will have jobs for every able bodied person, so everyone should be motivated to work right?

Being a caseworker has opened my eyes to some truths. Half of my clients legitmately and rightly receive their benefits. Most are able bodies men and women, who even when offered employment, because we have employment services here, turn it down. BUT! they all have the latest Iphone, and the women have the best looking nails I have ever seen.

Forget the labels communist, or even socialist. Let's create a country we can be proud of. One that works for nearly 100% of us, except a tiny fraction that horde their money and are frankly not good Americans, even if they do "provide" jobs, if those are slave wage jobs they are not good Americans. A healthy nation is one with equality, an unhealthy one has inequality.

Sometimes labels are just meaningless.

I don't really care what anyone calls me as long as they know where I stand on these issues. Good post.
