Going Crazy Here

This Russian Hacking scandal and Trump's denial and subsequent praise of Putin should have people in the streets, but no one seemingly cares!

If this was a Democrat, House of Representatives would already be preparing impeachment charges.

I know corporate "news" is not giving this the attention it warrents, but my God: have Americans become that stupid?

4. Same here. And DT says he'll get a briefing next week and no one seems to care about that,

either. For all their bluster about voter fraud, Republicans are willing to turn a blind eye to interference by a foreign government. Move along, nothing to see here.

5. I disagree with one part of your statement. The media has given Trump's denial of Russian hacking

more than ample coverage. It is unfair to claim otherwise. The truth is, much like the 2008 financial fraud, most Americans just cannot be bothered. It is we the people. Quite frankly, I think blaming the media for everything is the way Americans have chosen to avoid looking in the mirror at themselves.

6. Good point.

Corporate media stinks, we all know that..but the story is being reported and the details are out there and from credible sources. We want to see outrage in the media, but, where it exists, it's under reported. If a million people show up in DC Jan 21st, it deserves more than a 10 second shot on the nightly news.

14. If you are referring to cable news as the media, I want you to watch for their little scam

If they do a report on anything negative about Trump (R-Rus) it is immediately followed by 3 Trump surrogates whitewashing it, thereby reducing any impact
the report may have had.

8. Yes, they actually are that stupid

Wrap that up in the self-indulgence that is our society and here we are.

I see no outrage where there should be outrage. I see no concern where there should be concern.

And the media will do all in its power to see that the public remain factually uninformed, which is pretty much what they have been doing for years.

My only hope is that their shit will actually result in a massive pushback that results in Dems taking over one house of congress in 2018 which will at least allow somewhat of a leash. But even that may be wishing for too much.

9. Honestly...We need to look at "our" own response

I think our Dem elected officials should be doing much more to stir people up.

Schumer and Pelosi should be calling DJT and illegitimate president and calling for massive boycotts and demonstrations. We should be having sit ins at every GOP member of congress' office and demanding impeachment hearings.

But they won't, because in times like these they just sit and wait.

15. Sadly, I think things will have to get a lot worse before people get

Motivated to "do something". For one thing, there is a lot of denial that Trump is THAT dangerous. Psychiatrists and mental health professionals have given their opinions on what is going on inside of Trump's head, but many people resist admitting that he is a real threat to our way of life. Kind of a ..."can't happen here" mentality. Plus, tRump is a master manipulator and can be charming when he wants to be. So he can continue to fool a lot of the people for a while longer. In other words, his psychiatric issues are going to have to be a lot worse before some of his supporters will see the truth.

Another factor is that all of this so-called transition has been happening during one of our most distracting times....the holidays. We have a 6 week period in our country of feasting, shopping, partying, etc that has kept many people busy and not focused on what tRump has been saying and doing. This will be ending tonight and tomorrow so maybe people will come back to reality and start paying attention to things that could impact our way of life and governing.

Still, once tRump is in office, he will continue to tell us that there is nothing to see and to move along. His staff and advisors will do the same. Minimize things, cover up and deflect. So those of us who know there are hidden answers in his taxes and other documents must never turn our backs and forget about it. There are good reasons we never saw his tax returns because the evidence of his connections to Putin and others will be found there.

I keep hoping that a smoking gun will be found and that a miracle will happen before January and tTump's inauguration....but unfortunately, I know deep down, it won't be that simple. I think the misery will continue for a long time before enough people wake up to demand that he be stopped by the people who can do that....the Congress. Not a very cheerful or optimistic point of view, but that's how I feel.

23. We may need to think of the Republicans and the Russians as allies.

A lot of Republicans are kind of "pro forma" against Russia, but Russia has a lot in common with Republican ideals. Russians admire strongmen, are mostly white, have a high tolerance for political corruption, like their booze, etc. The fact that the Russians have nuclear weapons pointed at our cities, threaten western territory, and are becoming expert Internet hackers doesn't faze Republicans. "Hey, some black guys didn't stand for the national anthem during a few football games. Obama let in Syrian terrorists. That's worse than the Russians."

A lot of liberal minded (but not exactly sharp) people admire Putin too. "Liberty savior" Edward Snowden protected the world from the NSA. Putin saved Snowden from persecution by the United States.

Republican politicians will work with Putin, I think. We are going to see a lot of Kabuki. Putin will "back down" or sign anti-hacking agreements with Trump. Meanwhile he and the Republicans will be running through their respective countries sticking TVs and jewelry into pillowcases.

24. "Should have people in the streets"

Are you in the streets?

It's really not that easy for people to just pour out "in the streets".

Trump is an atrocious, dangerous, embarrassment to the US, but protests in the streets without the kind of coordination which gets all participants on the same page with the same set of talking points that focus on one or two things the public will understand is mostly a waste of time.

There will be demonstrations at the inauguration, but even those will be largely dismissed as sour grapes.

I agree with you about the danger, I think things are perhaps even worse than people imagine. By getting away with so much that would doom most politicians, Trump has just about created a "new normal" - one where nearly half the country will just dismiss even the most legitimate criticism of him. This country can no longer even agree on what basic facts are, and that will embolden and empower Trump in a way few other Presidents have been.
