(35,432 posts)A huge majority of African American and Latino men voted for Hillary.

(45,418 posts)yet somehow these assholes won the election anyway. People voted for the grabber and the bigot. White power trumped feminism. The majority of white women voted to throw one of their own under the bus to maintain their privilege and power.
There are more women in this country than men. No voter suppression tactics to keep women from voting like they do with "urban" and college students and other types of reliable Democratic voter blocks. Nobody stopped women from voting for a woman.
On a positive note, we did elect several new women and minorities to congress/senate this year.

(29,065 posts)They voted for Clinton, so please stop assigning false causes to the vote of these Blue Collar women, like "to preserve their privilege and power", because it's absurd on it's face.

Why Did College-Educated White Women Vote for Trump?

White Women Helped Elect Donald Trump

(29,065 posts)White women without college degrees chose Trump..."White Women Helped Elect Donald TrumP'
White men 31% 63%
White women 43 53
White women college graduates 51 45
White women non-college graduates 34 62
White men college graduates 39 54
White men non-college graduates 23 72
As you will note, a MAJORITY of White College Educated Women voted for Clinton, 51 to 45, while only a MINORITY of White College educated MEN voted for Clinton, 39 to 54.
With those numbers in mind, I hope you'll place the blame where it belongs -- on WHITE MEN, who, even WITH a College Degree, voted overwhelmingly for Trump.
I've been sensing a desire to disproportionately dump on White Women for this mess, but the numbers simply do NOT back you up, at least in comparison to White Men..As a white educated woman, I'm actually shocked and ashamed of them.
IronLionZion
(45,418 posts)with some polls putting it as high as 87%. I'm not white.
Minorities did our part for Hillary and the Dems.
Of course white men would vote for that orange troll. His campaign portrayed himself as some big successful manly man who will make America great again by rejecting feminism and diversity and educated elitism. Of course he would get those without college degrees. They saw a champion who takes what he wants and doesn't have time for consent and has never suffered any consequences for his actions.
Hillary's coalition was women, minorities, and young people. If white women with college degrees had gone for Hillary in higher numbers comparable to minorities and young people we would have won.
whathehell
(29,065 posts)but your being selective in who you want to blame, because if you think while men had an understandable reason for voting for Trump and white women not, please explain why THIRTY TWO Prcent of Hispanic women voted for Trump?
Good grief! I don't know if these are "your people" or not, but before you dump it all on white women, please tell me WHY a group directly insulted by Trump would vote fot him?? You say that if "white women with college degrees had gone for Hillary in higher numbers, we would have won" -- No kidding, but the same could be said of Latinas and even Black women, for that matter, since even six percent of them voted forTrump.
My point is there's a lot of blame to go around -- Don,'t try and lay it all on college educated white women, especially if you're unprepared to explain why as unlikely a demographic as Hispanic women would vote for Trump in the numbers they did.

(45,418 posts)The ones I've spoken to said it's because they are pro-business and anti-muslim, and want more jobs. They actually think he's going to bring back manufacturing and coal/oil jobs through subsidies and tariffs and trade reform. They think because they are US citizens they will be exempt from the racial violence and bigotry.
I don't know about female Trumpers but I bet many of them feel they are beyond the age of being sexually assaulted or somehow think it won't happen to them or their loved ones. There are also mentally ill trolls like Tila Tequila who literally ask for it and claim to enjoy it.
Plus you've probably encountered women who don't trust other women for various reasons. Some of them just don't like Hillary.
whathehell
(29,065 posts)54 percent of college educated white MEN would vote for the cretin -- For God's sake , they should know better!...It's quite a mystery, all the way around. I just keep hoping that something will happen with the recount, or the Electoral. College before he's inaugurated.

(41,959 posts)Its as though people think there's some special nobility in being accepting of everything and desirous of nothing, and that's laid ultimately on us women. When you're young you're objectified for sex, when you're middle aged you're objectified as a benign, dumb, unfailing caregiver and when you get older you're taken advantage of or cast aside. With many people it's gotten better but there are a FUCK of a lot of them in this new administration and frankly all over who just get away with it. And support one another i maintaining it. I'm sick of it.

(23,970 posts)I was older when we started our family - 38 with the first, and 41 with the second. I had prenatal genetic testing to see if everything had turned out OK. I also wanted to know gender. Not just out of curiosity. I had always envisioned myself as the mother of a daughter, and I knew myself well enough to know that if I were not having one, I would need time to adjust to that.
Sure enough, 2 boys, whom, of course, I would not trade for anything. That said, I had to grieve the loss of my fantasy daughter, and there is still a wistfulness for experiences I will never get to have not being her mother.
With the current raging misogyny that is blazing thru our country and culture, for the first time, I am glad she was not born.

(30 posts)I voted for Hillary and now I just feel lost. I am totally against every choice "The Donald" has made.........all the lies! How ashamed I feel for our country to look back at the campaign and see all the things he said and did. Just to look at him and his cabinet choices makes me sick to my stomach! Lord I hope there's a turn for the better soon!
