that's when he took office. But it was about 9000 when 2009 started and a bit higher 9100+ when the 2008 election was. I remember RWers pointing to the early 09 dip as a panicked reaction to Obama taking office...

I think 6700 was the low in the last recession, not particular to any political or calendar event.
