In honor of Elizabeth Cady Stanton & Susan B. Anthony
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony never got to vote. Actually Susan B. Anthony voted illegally once. The womens' suffrage cause, particularly the American suffragists is on my mind a great deal now because of this historic opportunity to vote for a woman. In my heart I hope that millions of women in the United States will cast their votes for Hillary Clinton and by doing so may their actions honor the spirits and souls of the women who were never allowed to vote yet fought for our right to vote.
I completed my ballot and turned it in to the board of election staff yesterday. As I watched the lady - many women and a few men were working in the office- put my sealed ballot in the ballot box my mind was busy with many thoughts but among these thoughts was an awareness that women in this election have the power to refuse Donald entrance in the White House. More than that, because of his abhorrent behavior and vile words women have the power to voice a resounding emphatic "NO!" to this man who we have all encountered during our female lives; we can denounce this sexist, misogynistic perpetrator who lacks experience, character, accountability, responsibility, maturity, and temperament as well as required knowledge about our Constitution, American history, current world leaders and issues and more. So, I thought I would take this opportunity to express gratitude for women I never knew who were born before me, who organized, and agitated, and educated, and marched, and kept this up for decades so that women today can cast their votes. Wherever you all are now, thank you and may you Rest In Peace and may at least some of our votes for the first women president of the United States of America be offered in memory of you all. I am including a few links here about the history of womens' suffrage for anyone else who loves history. http://www.history.com/news/history-lists/7-things-you-might-not-know-about-the-womens-suffrage-movement https://www.nwhm.org/online-exhibits/rightsforwomen/didyouknow.html https://www.nwhm.org/education-resources/history/woman-suffrage-timeline

3. Pass it on :-)
I like your RFK avatar and your tag line too. I have a book I love called "Make Gentle the Way of this's world" (I think that's the title) with RFK quotes and his favorite quotes, poems, and readings.

6. It pleases me no end
that one of the major reasons he's lost this election is because his misogyny has come to light. Lord knows that's not even the primary reason he should be rejected, but it's so satisfying that his treatment of women is one of the nails in his campaign's coffin.

7. I know what you mean. It is keenly fitting that this is
what he revealed of himself in these last few weeks. Obviously it was not his idea to release this tape but I am so grateful to who ever was part of that process. Nixon's tapeworms come to mind only this is so much worse...it's appalling! He is such a bully. And a sexual predator. How can anyone support him? Thankfully I cannot comprehend that.

9. It also seems like the hand of fate, or kismit, or something that his
Treatment of women offends women so gravely that they go out and vote for the first woman nominated for president of the United States of America almost 100 years after women finally got the right to vote. It's like the process has come full circle with women in a much different place in time now.

10. My son read about Susan B Anthony today
It was a little kids book on her. I had him read it for his school reading log. He is 7 years old. I don't think he understands about voting, but I thought it was good for him to read about how things were different for women in the past. I asked him about it afterwards and he said she was a teacher and she was fighting for love. LOL. Not exactly...

11. I LOVE your son's summary...that she
"Was a teacher and she was fighting for love." I can see that. Yay for him. And for his smart, encouraging mother.

12. good point; women's rights didn't just happen; these women MADE it happen; that must
never be forgotten, and we must always remain vigilant against the forces who would turn back the clock, because they are not going away any time soon.

13. Exactly. It is the same as Unions who fought
For the right to organize and also with African Americans who fought for the right to vote. These battles were long, difficult and even dangerous for the people fighting for their rights. We need to honor and respect that and yes, as you say, remain vigilant to avoid going backward.

There's a great two part documentary on Susan B Anthony & Elizabeth Cady Stanton done by PBS that I highly recommend.

18. Nice quote by S. B. Anthony. It reminds me of one of my
favorite quotes about failing. "It always seems impossible until it's done." Nelson Mandela
