Sadly in Virginia I can't vote early. However if you live in a state that hasn't asininely decided 3 million people must all vote in the same 11 hour window ... VOTE EARLY!

(1,383 posts)I have 18 days to vote AND from the comfort of home. I really don't get it. This topic has sparked an interest. Any good reading you can recommend on these asinine, disenfranchising laws?
Great advice from MY President.
Vote as soon as you can. Cheers!!!!!!

(19,264 posts)Technically you can request an absentee ballot but you need a "valid" reason. I could lie but I am not going to do that. We need the system fixed but I am not holding my breath.
I don't really know how much it varies by state other than VA is horribly restrictive.

(1,383 posts)I remember my first time voting in my home state of Indiana for the 2004 election. Prior to, it was absentee ballot as I was doing the sailor thing. I stood in line very early in the morning and it was brisk with a thick dampness in the air. I do remember thinking, "there has got to be a better way."
There is. The Democrats are in a great position, especially if we win the Senate, to get these reforms through.
