Sadly in Virginia I can't vote early. However if you live in a state that hasn't asininely decided 3 million people must all vote in the same 11 hour window ... VOTE EARLY!

I have 18 days to vote AND from the comfort of home. I really don't get it. This topic has sparked an interest. Any good reading you can recommend on these asinine, disenfranchising laws?

3. There have been some efforts but they have been defeated by Republican controlled state legislature.

Technically you can request an absentee ballot but you need a "valid" reason. I could lie but I am not going to do that. We need the system fixed but I am not holding my breath.

I don't really know how much it varies by state other than VA is horribly restrictive.

5. It's really amazing to me.

I remember my first time voting in my home state of Indiana for the 2004 election. Prior to, it was absentee ballot as I was doing the sailor thing. I stood in line very early in the morning and it was brisk with a thick dampness in the air. I do remember thinking, "there has got to be a better way."

There is. The Democrats are in a great position, especially if we win the Senate, to get these reforms through.

I've still got a week before my mail-in ballot gets here - been impatiently waiting. It will be such a relief when all this is over, but it ain't over till we all vote.
