Republican Official: Don’t Raise The Minimum Wage, Because Workers Will Just Spend It On Heroin
Rick Snow said the additional income would be squandered on “illegal activities.” 09/30/2016 06:38 pm ET Emily Tate Politics Intern, The Huffington Post The Maine Heritage Policy Center launched a campaign this week against a November referendum to raise the state’s minimum wage from $7.50 per hour to $12 per hour by 2020. It’s off to a rocky start. The Center, which is connected to billionaires Charles and David Koch, announced its opposition during a press conference in the capital Augusta, where business owner Rick Snow, who is running for office in Maine, suggested that raising the wage would only provide more drug money to poorly paid workers. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/minimum-wage-maine_us_57ed91a8e4b082aad9ba7491?section=&

4. They may not really believe this.
Their job is to convince voters that they (the voters) should believe what the Koch shills are saying.

3. 10 years ago, I would say something along the lines of
"you gotta love the honesty" in this situation, but not now
Now when a Republican shares his thoughts it honestly makes me want to wash off the slime |

5. The GOP's patron saint, Ronald Reagan, made disparaging the poor fashionable.
This is pretty low even for conservatives.

6. This is how Republicans justify treading all over the poor
"They're only poor because they're failed human beings"
"They only want more money to spend on drugs" "They're poor so obviously they deserve to have life suck" "They should just be thankful they aren't starving in the streets like in Africa" |

9. Ridiculous argument but not what he said.
“Where would that money be spent? We’ve heard about the opiate issues in the state of Maine. Are we going to add more income to individuals so they can spend it on illegal activities? I’m very concerned about that,”

Now you have to realize that half of them are even stupider than that.

15. They have convinced a low IQ segment of voters
To vote against their own economic interests. Republicans are great at appealing to the poor until you actually do some critical thinking. Look at how Trump played the debate. All the talk of tariffs, ending outsourcing and bringing jobs back. It all sounds good until the HOW? question comes up. The devil is always in the details with Republican economics.

Seems like those at the top are forgetting the lessons of the past. I'm seeing an alarming resurgence of the old "let them eat cake" mentality.
