The polls are showing Trump with a 5 point lead in Ohio! Is this a spoof or the real thing? Hillary and her group need to heat it up in Ohio and fast! Along with Ohio, we all need to are part to help her pull to the finish line. There is too many things at stake!

'Federal court allows Ohio to throw out ballots with typos and small errors
If a voters signature looks slightly different from the one the state has on file, the vote can be invalidated.
In the span of just two days, they have lost a full week of early voting and their only chance of same-day registration, and hundreds of thousands of still-eligible voters were denied absentee ballot applications. A third blow fell Tuesday afternoon, when a panel of judges from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a law that allows the state to throw out absentee and provisional ballots that have errors as small as leaving out ones middle name or zip code.'

(148,877 posts)I'm sorry, but I'll wait for other poll results from Ohio before crying that the sky is falling.
Suggesting someone needs medical attention is insulting, frankly, in my opinion.

I am not 'crying that the sky is falling,' but I remember very well what's happened in Ohio over the years, AND the strenuous efforts of Ohio's PTB to screw Democratic candidates.

(1,657 posts)Maybe the polls are incorrect, but nonetheless, the race is tightening in Ohio and with this latest piece of news about throwing out ballots, this isn't great news. I agree, the Dems need to get back to Ohio and turn this thing around.

This week has been rough for voters in Ohio.
In the span of just two days, they have lost a full week of early voting and their only chance of same-day registration, and hundreds of thousands of still-eligible voters were denied absentee ballot applications. A third blow fell Tuesday afternoon, when a panel of judges from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a law that allows the state to throw out absentee and provisional ballots that have errors as small as leaving out ones middle name or zip code.
The two judges who ruled to uphold the law are white and were appointed by Republican presidents. The judge who dissented is African American and was appointed by Jimmy Carter, and he blasted his colleagues for backing a policy that dishonored the struggle for the right of the most vulnerable to vote.
I am deeply saddened and distraught by the courts deliberate decision to reverse the progress of history, Judge Damon Keith said in his blistering dissent. The unfettered right to vote is the bedrock of a free and democratic society without it, such a society cannot stand.
Keith accused his colleagues of ignoring the factual findings of the lower district court, including that minorities use provisional ballots more often than whites, and in presidential election years, the absentee ballots and provisional ballots of minority voters are more likely to be rejected than those of white voters...................

(8,203 posts)understand what the polls show - not as a stand alone poll, but as an aggregate of many polls..
Research is good at 538 - so to your question I will let Nate Silver answer it, he is the guru..

As Nate says, "my impression is that the commentariat has been slow to recognize how much the race has tightened already. Its never a good idea to freak out over any one poll.
Be well..don't fret - Trumpf has 55 days to make up 16% to 50% - ain't gonna happen -

(675 posts)President Obama has repeatedly stated that trump is unfit for office, do we really think that he's going to sit by and let the Donald replace him?? No way.
I believe that at the right time a bomb will be dropped, most likely an indictment, on trump that will effectively take him out of the race. It will happen in October, the ultimate October surprise, too late to install a replacement so it will be Mike Pence running against Hillary.
The repukes will be shellshocked, disheartened, ashamed they ever let a criminal like trump close to power. They will be less than motivated to vote.
I said all spring that Hillary would be cleared of any and all charges regarding the emails before the convention, I was right. I'm pretty sure I will be right about trump too.
Obama has our backs, don't worry.
