DU, I love you! I saw the worry thread and was overwhelmed with gratitude!

I am grateful to have such a loving community who cares about people, in this case, me.

I want you to know that I care about YOU and I'm sorry I haven't posted a Friday afternoon art essay in a while. I had written one and it is fine. But I have been dragged down by some personal issues and have struggled with them. I won't go into details -- too painful -- but this was too distracting for me to do much else.

Now that my head is clearing -- and having your backing -- well, it heartens me.

Actually, I hope to return to Italy in the spring -- to Florence, to show a friend the art that regular tourists don't get to. But my friend's health issues might negate the trip. It makes me heartsick, but I must accept reality.

I'm almost there. Been posting a lot on campaign stuff. It's not the same as the way I felt about Bernie but there are new virtues I have been delighted with in the Clinton campaign.

My already written essay is on Bernini's "Ecstasy of St. Teresa"which was a joy to write.

Thank you Malaise and all of you who have been such faithful DU friends. My heart is healing.
I am truly humbled by your caring.

8. Thanks. The situation I found myself in robbed me of all my confidence in my abilities and I

had started to be forgetful -- all due to stress I think. A bad case of shingles knocked the shit out of me and continues to plague me (now called post herpetic neuralgia). Then I developed nemular dermatitis that I am fighting today. I think all the physical pain added to the whole mess. Plus I am the caregiver of a partially disabled husband. Stuff happens...

38. So sorry to hear that, CTyankee. I've had PHN for over 15 years, so I know how soul sucking

chronic pain can be. I have had at least 10 bouts of shingles--all but one on my right sciatic nerve--since 1998, so I pretty much have permanent nerve damage down my right leg. I didn't think you could get shingles more than once, but I was wrong. My doctor said only about 3%of people get multiple bouts, lucky me. It runs in my family--my grandmother, dad, aunt, and 3 first cousins have all had multiple bouts, but I am the winner. Woo hoo!

Well, I sincerely hope your PHN isn't permanent and that you have a good pain management doctor. That's literally been a lifesaver for me. I think I would've checked out years ago without my doctor.

So glad you checked in and that you're doing better. Hang in there!

40. Yes, I am consulting with a pain management doc. Have you heard about Qtensis?

It involves insertion of a tiny wire in beteen your top vertebrae. But for some strange reason, I have to be seen and evaluated by a psychologist before I can get the Qtensa! I'll see the psychologist in a week or so and then I can schedule the Qtensa. I suspect a rip off...it's a scheme to get more $$$ for psychologists...

I've been advised to get a shingles shot so I will do that. The co-pay on it is high but it's worth it.

I am getting phototherapy for the dermatitis. It's a full body treatment with UVB rays I've been told it takes time to get the treatment to kick in (I have to start turning pink and I haven't yet. Meanwhile more spots are appearing and my topical meds don't seem to help much. The itching is horrible.

41. Are you tech savvy?

the reason I ask is that I am having real problems uploading art off Google to my file folders (from which I upload the art images you see in my essays). I go the usual route of uploading by copying the image location and pasting that into my essay when I put it online. It won't let me "paste" into a folder.

I'm working on my next essay on Whistler's beautiful ladies which is a manifestation of his devotion to aestheticism.

I used the process for all my other essays. Without it, I'm unable to do the essay (well, I could but with no images of the art, it wouldn't hold to much interest of the viewer.

any suggestions?

46. the folder I am referring to is in my word processing on my computer.

I've been using this process successfully since way back when I was doing the art challenges. It is a bit cumbersome but has always worked in the past.

I finally called my computer guy as a last ditch resource. He'll come by Monday since he is nearby and perhaps come up with an alternate strategy -- either that or get MS Word (I currently have abi word which he says is "just as good" as Word).

I did try copying from the original source and still no paste functionality (shaded out).

The good news is that I will be going into the city to the Frick Collection with a friend to once again see Bellini's wonderful St. Francis in the Garden (I did an essay on it a while back here on DU). And of course the Beautiful Ladies by Whistler. His method of attaining translucency and his idea behind naming his art with musical terms is fascinating. I think DUers will enjoy knowing more about the artist. I'm eager to get started. It will be especially helpful to have your assessment...but right now I am in the research process In the meantiime I will post the Bernini St. Teresa which you saw in Rome (lucky you).

upload your photo, and copy the address. Remember to bookmark for later access.

Here is one I uploaded

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1rt2es&s=9#.V8MKPa3Sk_h

I just click on the image and then right click the photo and copy the address.
